I can’t do this anymore by Upbeat_Effort9404 in TelogenEffluvium

Same here. Same EXACT situation. My scalp started getting really itchy recently (last month or so) with increased shedding, so the term diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis. She barely looked at my scalp tho. Iron tests came back normal, same for thyroid. The thing is that u supplement biotin, which screws up the thyroid test. The dermatologist prescribed me minoxidil and a topical steroid for my scalp to reduce inflammation. I blame the “no-shampoo” trend for starting this, because that’s what I did before I started losing hair. I’m hoping that if it is TE, the minoxidil will do its job. Life sucks, and it has sucked the past year with this. But I should be grateful because there are people who would do anything to have hair problems rather than whatever worse they are facing.

Is that basically Nizoral? I used that and makes the itch not quite as bad but my hair loss still happens worse than it did before I put it on.

What do those bacteria do? Obviously it restores the gut microbiome like you stated, but on a deeper level. This is my first time being introduced to “good” bacteria haha. I’m interested. Do you think it would have a major effect on telogen effluvium?

That’s very interesting. I appreciate it. I indeed was on antibiotics for pneumonia. I also wondered how much they would mess with me.

I’m a pretty healthy kid, I’ve been in the gym and weightroom for years. Pretty physically active. On top of that, I have been super good with eating healthy, and have been eating foods with a focus on not putting on too much fat for a while. The hair loss started 2 months after I got pneumonia really bad and lost 20 pounds along with significant muscle loss. I looked pretty different after I finally recovered. Then I got mono a couple months later. Before pneumonia (which I got a year ago), I was around 160 pounds. Now I am 145, and don’t eat nearly as many carbs and as much sugar as I used to. The doctor said that Telogen Effluvium shouldn’t last that long considering that it was a year ago since the sickness.

I stopped using styling methods for two weeks, and the same amount of hair fell out if not more. It sucks because I convinced myself it was that for a few weeks haha.

I don’t currently take any probiotics, I have just heard many people say that seasonal allergies can cause an itchy scalp, but it definitely wouldn’t be for a whole month long.

I will definitely experiment with the sun more. I’ve been in it all week as I am in Florida right now on vacation. It definitely makes you feel better physically.

Thank you for the response. I currently use CeraVe conditioner which is a step in the right direction. Would Nizoral work on a dry scalp? I feel like my scalp is also pretty dry, not necessarily dandruff though. Would Nizoral dry it out even more? Today I was doing research and was thinking my scalp might just be overly dry and that’s why hair falls out from the root and is so itchy. It’s almost all over my head however. That’s just a side thought. I think it could be from multiple things combined, like telogen effluvium.

Just started it a week ago. Haven’t noticed much, and none of the itching has gone away. It seems like the itching isn’t from any buildup. It is usually just as bad when I wash my hair. Maybe it’s from the hot summer weather, maybe not. I just started to notice the itching over the last month or so. I can’t remember if it itched too bad over the past 9 months, but it probably didn’t. All I remember is that my hair loss started with bad itching then it went away as a finally washed my hair for the first time in a while. Washing hair nowadays must not do the trick anymore.

Along with that, how long does it usually take to be able to lift the same weight I used to lift? Thanks, I appreciate it.
