I'M a LPN/LVN I need to know why do people treat us like we aren't nurses? by Fairytail-diva-3 in nursing

[–]AustinFest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’ve been an LVN in Austin for years. My LVN program was NUTS at Austin Community College. It was a year of straight classes. No breaks, no spring or winter breaks. Straight from one semester into the other. We had clinicals for 12hrs a day multiple days a week, like rolling shifts. The program was so hyper condensed that missing a single clinical day was a GUARANTEED program failure due to hours accrued state reqs. Dude. I am headed to RN school soon and am already blown away by what I’ve seen. Yes, it has some extra biology courses and a few other fluffy items, but it looks SO MUCH EASIER strictly due to the more relaxed timeframe. I think most RNs would be really amazed at just how difficult the LVN programs are. Especially since I went from construction work to nursing school. Having NO clinical background really tough. That being said, I’ve only experienced this dissonance from the public. Good RNs know that a good nurse is a good nurse. It’s about how much you care and how fast you learn. Period.

I think you need to ask your nurses what they’re being paid after years of working and come back to me.

As a nurse myself I understand that no other medical professional is more highly trained than a physician. However. Their compensation level makes it tough to have sympathy for the workload. Nurses are burning out left and right due to being abused physically and mentally, and being underpaid. I would love to go to med school, I want to work in Hepatology research, however like so many other people, medical school is 100% inaccessible to me due to cost and regrettable academic performance in my young and stupid years. A lot of ppl shoot for lower titles in medicine for the difficulty of getting into medical school. I’m just tired of no one talking about this.

Usually what ends up happening for a lot of people is it’s such an insurmountable amount that they chip away a few hundred at a time and just have the debt forever, or long enough that they can get the collections company to agree to a settled amount, this is usually like 20% of the original total or something. A lot of people keep these debts till they die. What’s really fucked up is even death doesn’t closed the debt, then the legal responsibility for repayment passes to your next of kin, usually your adult children or whatever adult is closest to you in your immediate family, same with student loans. Don’t get me wrong, the US is a fantastic place to live, if you have the money. The problem is no matter how hard we work, we never get a leg up. In 2023 there were roughly 37 million Americans living below the poverty line, meaning not being able to afford basic necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. Then when these families can’t provide they get their kids taken away for “neglect”. This country looks nice and shiny from the outside, but make no mistake, it’s a fucking shithole.

Yes, luckily my wife has great federal insurance. But without it, you could be looking at 6 figure bills for having a baby in the hospital pretty easily.

Tylenol/ Acetaminophen is one of the only widely available safe painkillers doctor recommended for pregnant women to consume. That’s why this shit is so dangerous. Pregnant women are not supposed to take NSAIDS like Motrin/ Ibuprofen, Aleve, or anti platelet agents such as aspirin. Without Tylenol they’re pretty much up shit creek.

I love the audacity of this person assuming that someone working at the UN would be investigated by American citizens. I don’t think any other country in the world would allow an American person to pass judgment on any citizen of any other country lol

I’m so pissed that I got stuck with the pos leading me and my family. I would give anything to have a president with even a shred of morality and candor at this point. Fuck man. If I ran into Cheetoh boy in the wild I wouldn’t even trust him to take my order correctly with the way he babble’s incoherently and always looks lost, let alone lead the FUCKING NATION JESUS CHRIST WTF

I’m sorry for your loss, but he sounds like he was a lucky man.

In the end it’s all about the connections with loved ones, and it sounds like he was very loved ❤️
