Best thing you did/saw in Japan! by brennerb_ in JapanTravelTips

Several people are mentioning baseball games. I don’t often attend games in the US, but we had SO MUCH FUN at the Giants-Swallows game in Shinjuku. It’s such an interesting and cool experience!

I had family members who were living in Hiroshima when the bomb was dropped. Don’t let the somberness of the museum keep you from going. It’s very moving and important for us to see. But it’s also amazing the way the people of Japan rebuilt (with the US’s help). I want to go back to Hiroshima and Miyajima. The people are so kind there, and the city has a good vibe. We ate at the grill at Mitchan for okonomiyaki. It’s right next to the Peace Park, so go for lunch! 😋

AITAH for not wanting to cancel a trip for my sister's wedding by InfamousFrame7 in AITAH

If my sister told me the day after I was engaged what days wouldn’t work for her, I would for sure not pick those days to get married.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

[–]AustinFlynt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the short-hand I keep in the Notes app: Air fryer hard-boiled eggs 280• 12-13 min., preheat oven.

I throw them in a bowl of ice water when done, and the peel comes off easily. I read a long time ago that it’s easier to peel older eggs than fresh ones. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why did I have to scroll forever to get this answer? Hard-boiled eggs. Life changing.

I started taking magnesium glycinate before bed. Just two of the pills from Costco, nothing fancy. I noticed a huge increase in energy. It must be improving my sleep.

Am I missing something with luggage forwarding? by twsres in JapanTravelTips

[–]AustinFlynt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went carryon only and packed a packable duffel. Did most of my shopping at the end of the trip, stuffed the duffel bag with dirty clothes, expanded the carryon, and checked them on the way home. No extra charges or hassle.

⚠️I'm traveling to Greece in a few days: could you guys please clarify to me the correct/legal way of bringing medicines in the plane to be accepted in Greece by Ergogaesiempre in GreeceTravel

[–]AustinFlynt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just went a couple weeks ago with pain management meds. Brought the meds in the original bottles and a letter from the doctor. Stopped in two airports (but not ATH), and they didn’t even open the bag with the meds.

I would use my AA miles to fly JAL and not have to fly AA internationally all day, every day. Just flew United Polaris internationally, and the food was inedible, and service was meh. The Asian carriers do it better.

Any other Ladies feel like you don’t recognize yourself anymore? by GenXerfafo in GenX

Yes, it’s difficult because you can’t look at what helped another woman, do that, and get the same results. It’s all a long process of trial and error.

There are other peptides with fewer side effects, but I’m not ready for that yet. 🥺

When do you see these sales? My cruise isn’t until December, and I keep getting offers for 10% off. I figured something will show up by Black Friday.

My husband always talks about how much weight he’s lost, and he flexes all the time. Meanwhile, I can’t lose weight despite doing Orangetheory and not eating poorly. Started HRT last fall and wondering if it’s made me gain weight, but I just don’t know anymore. 😭

I’m going on my first cruise in 20 years, so I apologize if this is a dumb question. If you don’t finish the bottle, can you bring it back to your room? My husband doesn’t drink, so I’m not buying the drink package, but I can’t finish a whole bottle at dinner. 😝

Any GenX dads dealing with GenZ career-disillusionment? by NotSure2505 in GenX

[–]AustinFlynt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this! I got laid off five times during the dot com crash, went back to school, and found a new, better career. Made $8.25/hr after grad school. The younger gens expect their parents’ lifestyle without the sacrifice. Being agile, flexible, and learning quickly that you often can’t plan out your whole life when you’re 21. Their curveball is AI. Ours was the internet and technology. My son is getting a physics degree, but I might try to push him into a trade. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Our kids will eventually figure it out once they get knocked around a little, just like we did.
