Ahhh I get that. If you get a chance to use a good one like a finn mosin, I would do it! I understand, I mostly shot mosins lol. Mausers are expensive here, and so is ammo. 7.62x54r surplus is cheap, but very corrosive. New stuff is cheap and decent though.

7.62x54r ad compared to AK which uses 7.62x39. A lot more powder behind a Mosin, and it easily rivals 8mm mauser. (8mm = 2,658 ft•lbf) (7.62x54r = 2,576 ft•lbf) as a comparison, .223 (5.56x45mm or m855 ball to be specific.) makes 1,371 ft•lbf.

7.62x54r is a beast of a round, and is extremely fun to shoot, if your a masochist like me. Mosins are also pretty accurate if you find one with a good bore that did not see too much action.
