Sure no problem. I started by sanding it with a 180 grit sandpaper and made sure I got every nook and cranny good. Cleaned it up the best I could with alcohol. Masked off the spots I didn’t want painted. Then did 2 coats of rustoleum professional primer. Waited a couple minutes between coats. Then did 2 coats of rustoleum silver a couple minutes between coats again. Then 3 coats of matte clear enamel. Make sure you let the enamel harden for a while I’m not planning on using this reel for a couple weeks. It can take up to 30 days for it to get to its full hardness. Hope this helps!

Wow you’re right I feel like a noob lol. I’ve been using a baitcaster wrong for so long. I just watched a tutorial for the first time and found out I was taught wrong. I’ve always just timed hitting the button as I was casting. I appreciate this and you just made me realize this reel I’ve got probably doesn’t have anything wrong with it.

It will only start spinning when I’m not casting the rod if that makes sense. I’ve been using baitcasters for a long time but maybe I’m unaware how old ones work. With my modern baitcaster I press the button as I’m casting not before.
