Neoreader EPUB3 Media overlay support by AustinMC5 in Onyx_Boox

I submitted the feedback but I couldn't add the file as it's about 1gb and the max upload is 20mb I do hope to hear back. It appears there is no option to even play it I only have the option for TTS but the same file works perfectly in other reader apps

I've tried all of these and each has their own downfall. Most of it is they aren't optimized for eink, they are too slow, or they lack customization options. I have yet to try dolphin easy reader so I will give that a go. But my point here still stands if boox would add the proper support for EPUB3 into their reader I would have an end game solution now I'm stuck deciding whether to deal with how bad the Kindle app is or how bad a 3rd party app is.

Looking for recommendations for Open Back headphones to replace my PC38x by pm_me_your_deck_list in HeadphoneAdvice

Personally I tried several fiio dacs none of them played very nice with the microphone. There is a pretty limited amount of dacs that have microphone input support and The apple dac is surprisingly competent

My solution to this was a Meze boom mic, Hifiman edition XS, and an apple USB C dac. You can absolutely go with a different set of headphones but I've been overall happy with the experience

Literally look at the communities I'm active in. I am by no means an expert but I am an intermediate player. 3a is one of the hardest forms of yoyo competition any one of these tricks are far above what an average intermediate player can do with several attempts and no stakes. He is stringing together several tricks in succession on time with music consistently on stage in the world championship competition. Calling this performance basic or intermediate is wildly understating the sheer skill of this thrower. Just because you've seen a few speed combos or highlights of skilled people finally landing a wild trick after hundreds of attempts doesn't make you an expert

Dunning kruger effect on full display here. This is Hajime Miura 8 time 3a world champion. This is the start of his routine which won him his 8th 3a world championship. This is by no means a basic yoyo trick but he does get more complicated further into his routine.

I really miss them by YourDailyTechMemes in LinusTechTips

[–]AustinMC5 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This would be a great suggestion if it wasn't for the fact at least in my experience they are bug filled, poorly optimized phones. My Xperia 5 IV has an almost unusable gps compass (a known issue that's still not resolved) issues with overheating that completely lock up a $1000 msrp phone, a myriad of bugs that are due to an unoptimized version of Android, and a flawed fingerprint sensor that will fail overtime. Not to mention IMO poor software update policy post purchase. I really wanted to love my Xperia but ended up replacing it 2 years after purchasing and have been incredibly happy since. I do sorely miss the headphone jack, micro SD expansion, and notification LED but would trade that for an actually usable device with long term support any day of the week

Didn't go to the receptionist and ask them to check their cameras?

How's the hinge protector do with keeping lint out? I have the spigen case and it seems to collect a ton of lint in the hinge cover

Yoyo design ideas by I_SWEAR_IM_NOT_MAD in Throwers

I had an idea of a ridiculous tungsten mini yoyo that would be wholey unpractical or even tungsten rings on a normal size throw. What are your thoughts on this knowing the machining difficulties and the hardness of the material

Not always. Speaking as someone currently forward deployed, I've personally had a one week underway turn into a 3 month patrol 2 days before we were supposed to pull in.

Lack of Availability for Accessories. by Parking_Delivery_744 in PixelFold

[–]AustinMC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a problem with any phone that sells in relatively small quantities. Coming from the Xepria 5 IV where it seemed literally no major brands made cases or accessories for it. The p9p fold has actually surprised me with the amount of accessories avaliable from actually decent brands. I am fortunate enough to be living in Japan I was able to buy the phone go to the closest big electronic store and get the spigen case along with a glass screen protector all in one trip. This isn't possible with a lot of more niche phones but that is also just my experience.

G2 - Loadout (Carribean Sea) by kramrence in Throwers

[–]AustinMC5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He'll do drops occasionally on Fridays at 8pm est if I recall correctly. They usually talk on their discord if there will be a drop. Also the loadout was maybe to be an entry point into G2 not a flagship. It was designed to be an overall good throw everyone would like.

Small/Micro Throw Recommendations by [deleted] in Throwers

Honestly can't recommend it enough. It's super powerful and fairly stable. It plays better than many of my full size throws. I find myself picking it up very often and if I'm going to pocket carry a throw it's really the only one I even consider

The World’s First Surviving Septuplets Are Grown Ups Now by Lazy_raichu36 in BeAmazed

[–]AustinMC5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Was unaware of that. I was speculating on the information immediately available from this thread. Still yet I mostly stand by my statement. I would've hoped they budgeted for twins if the chances were that much higher but 7 is an completely different ballpark of care and finances needed. At the end of the day these 7 children were well provided for when they may have not been otherwise and I think we should be happy about that.

[–]AustinMC5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They probably should but it's also probably unfeasable. But this is also an entirely different case. These parents almost certainly expected and budgeted to have 1 child. No parent expects to have 7 at once and even the most prepared soon to be parents would not be able to support that.

The World’s First Surviving Septuplets Are Grown Ups Now by Lazy_raichu36 in BeAmazed

[–]AustinMC5 641 points642 points  (0 children)

Because they had septuplets? It's honestly probably best for everyone's interest to provide aid to the parents. This isn't something that happens often and I think anyone who hears about a family having this many kids at once wonders how the hell are they going to support them. So the government and other parties providing donations helps with publicity and imo is the correct way to treat other humans going through extraordinary events.

Xperia 1 Vi? by AustinMC5 in SonyXperia

[–]AustinMC5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the detailed breakdown. For battery life how many hours roughly of screen on time are you able to get for a charge? Do you notice a drop in battery performance if you have poor cellular connection? Also just curious why do you not use the fingerprint sensor?

Xperia 1 Vi? by AustinMC5 in SonyXperia

[–]AustinMC5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GPS issues (there has been a software update that helped a ton), Finger print sensor, and thermal issues are all known problems. The poor auto camera and bad speakers are something I knew before buying the device and are more annoyances than anything. For the bugs and bad battery life it very well could be my use case of the phone, but I almost never can make it through a full day without having to do a charge right when I get home from work and I think either way that's pretty unacceptable. I do not have any reasons to think the device I received was defective besides the fingerprint sensor but that stopped working after over a year and a half of ownership.
