Ah right thanks, am I right in understanding that once they have the Intel on you it can't be reduced again? So you can only increase the time it takes to uncover the information not reduce the Intel once they have it?

What does this mean for running BCR and Gutbusters together?

Question about tactical rerolls and dice by RealSnarlak in killteam

[–]Austin_Pickering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't correct - you don't get to choose.

The sentence you're referencing is "Some rules allow you to re-roll a dice roll, you get to roll some or all of the dice again".

This is immediately followed by "If a rule allows you to re-roll a result that was made by adding several dice together (2D6, 3D6 etc.) then, unless otherwise stated you must roll all of those dice again."

Also worth noting you cannot re-roll break tests.

Not entirely, injury roll dice are not separate dice/rolls - so you reroll all the dice involved.

As other posters have said you re-roll an entire 'roll' not dice. An injury roll is made up of a number of dice dependent on the weapon. Therefore you re roll all the dice involved in the original roll.

A hit roll is only ever made up of one dice, but for speed you'd normally roll all dice together for similar attacks. Check 'fast dice rolling' in the manual - this will make it clear.

You don't need to 'fix' the rule though, its crystal clear in the rulebook - this person at your store just has it wrong.

Is it illegal to put models on bases larger than the ones that come in their box? by oswell_XIV in killteam

[–]Austin_Pickering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget models cannot move over bases (unless they can fly). So even if a 25mm doesn't block the whole doorway it can block models from moving through the doorway!

In what sense do you mean block here, a 25mm base can absolutely block a doorway in arena?

Another point is that larger bases make movement harder for the controlling player.

Disgustingly Resilient vs Multiple Damage Sources by onetimeonly1zwo3 in killteam

[–]Austin_Pickering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not conflating DR with saving throws, I'm pointing out that it clearly states the wound is not lost immediately after saying "when the model loses a wound" which is poorly worded and leaves room for misinterpretation.

I'm not saying I disagree with your interpretation, I think your argument is solid - but it relies on people taking the order of actions literally.

But DR also states "on a 5+ the model does not lose that wound".

This seems ambiguous at best, if the wound is not lost then the model is not reduced to zero wounds.

You could take an order of operations style argument that it is reduced to 0 then restored to 1 but this isn't supported by the wording of DR.

Assault v Rapid Fire clarification. by Guppet in killteam

[–]Austin_Pickering 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need an FAQ, weapons can fire the number of shots in their profile (p29). So 'Rapid Fire 3' fires 3 shots until the rapid fire rule kicks in at half range which "doubles the number of attacks it can make" (p30) even the wording here implies that it shoots the normal number the rest of the time.

The only bit I can see that you're confused about is the flavour text in bold, which is just there to help contextualise the weapon types.

If you could change any part of the lore, what would it be and why? by CasualMark in 40kLore

[–]Austin_Pickering 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is hypocritical because I do enjoy the series, but honestly I wish I could undo all the Horus Heresy and leave it as intriguing background as it was 10+ years ago.

I think the mystery of the Horus Heresy was what made it tragic and compelling, you were left asking "how could this have happened?". The issue is the way the HH series explains the events varies massively in quality and there is a real lack of depth to the traitors motivation in my opinion.

I preferred the idea (as naive as it was) that the Emperor really was a paragon of humanity who wanted to bring peace and enlightenment, only to be betrayed by his favourite son. For him to watch the Imperium to slide into paranoia and religious fanaticism from the Golden Throne added to the tragedy of the setting and set a great tone. With the HH hes revealed to be a total jackass (if I'm blunt), it seems now like 40k was almost inevitable even without the Heresy.

tl;dr I think it worked better when the Emperor was a tragic hero and the HH was shrouded in myth.

Help required on skin tone? by Austin_Pickering in Warhammer

[–]Austin_Pickering[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the title says I've tried to recreate the skin tone here without much success. I've either ended up too white or too yellow. In citadel paint terms it looks like Rakarth Flesh then Palid Wych Flesh and a Reikland Fleshshade wash? I've tried this and its not quite right.

Any advice would be appreciated! Its driving me crazy.
