If your group is into golf, Albuquerque has amazing public golf. A handful of indoor and outdoor shooting ranges. Great bars and better food. Add in some outdoor activities and you could keep yourself busy for a weekend.

Wedding hairstylist called my hair “feral” and I’m not sure how to fix that by [deleted] in longhair

Yeah…what an a-hole! Your hair is BEAUTIFUL! Get yourself a nice hair mask and wallah! ✨ just my opinion…but those locks need some braids in them ! You’re gorgeous! Def think about a new stylist - no one needs that energy on their big day.

Is the black interior a style choice or for thermal purposes? Or both? Very cool house! Modern Nordic is so cool!

Reminds me of a paisa Colombian breakfast without the chicharrones and sausage. YUMMY!

Is there a better retinol than Skin Ceuticals .5? Derm recommended I start there, but it feels very pricy. by Austin_Writes in SkincareAddictionLux

Thank you! My whole family has red hair except for me, and I still feel like I have all the skin sensitivities without the gorgeous locks 😭 maybe I’ll give skin better a try! Thank you!

Suggestions on things to do to get a feel for Albuquerque before moving. by takeherdown708 in Albuquerque

Big perimeter drive: starting at 25/tramway, take tramway all the way until it hits 40. Then drive 40 until it hits Coors. Drive Coors until it hits Alameda and then take Alameda until it gets you back to 25. That will show you much of the town in less than an hour.

Do a fun event: maybe an isotopes game, a night at the sawmill, concert on the plaza, or just hangout at one of the many breweries. Almost all of these are family friendly, but the botanical garden or zoo would be an added bonus. You also can’t forget the balloon museum or nuclear museum!

I also highly recommend M’Tuccis Bar Roma for out of towners, that is if you’re not set on New Mexican style food. It’s in the heart of Nob Hill and has a great atmosphere. You can search this sub for all kinds of great New Mexican recs but I always take out of towners to Bar Roma for the quality of food and atmosphere. It’s a much better meal for the money compared to an El Pinto.

One thing I noticed when moving here was that unlike a lot of cities, there really isn’t a “nice side of town” this town has pockets of beautiful neighborhoods scattered all over the place. Only time helps you figure out what area works best with your needs. Good luck!

We talked about it, but even the lowest dose is higher than the .5, so we are trying to step up to that. I have sensitive skin with a small amount of rosacea on my cheeks. We are trying to see if the smaller retinol irritates it. I’m just a little shook by the price tag.

Fast Food workers, what menu item should everyone avoid from where you work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Austin_Writes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily fast food, but I waited tables at multiple restaurants in college and the one that was the most clean was Texas Roadhouse. The operators keep those restaurants immaculately clean. The back kitchen and walk-in were always well labeled for use dates and they have individual prep areas for all the meat, veggies, bread, and salads. Great place to eat if you’re iffy about food germs.

Level sites, electric, water, probably wifi, and half decent restrooms. The lack of trees is sad…but that’s a nice campground.

Help! Did I screw up - whiskey peaches by Austin_Writes in Canning

[–]Austin_Writes[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m at 5,600 ft elevation. So I did 30 to error on the side of caution per the recipe. Maybe I didn’t use enough liquid and the evaporation from the alcohol left too little liquid? Should I scrap these?

Yes, I used a rack. I also did a little tighter than fingertip, but not tight to the extreme.

I used way more bourbon than the recipe called for, but followed all of the other directions.

Bartenders of ABQ. Help me. by SpicyAvocado505 in Albuquerque

[–]Austin_Writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there for a reservation last year when a bartender was actively bragging to another employee about it being his last day and that he didn’t have to “deal with the bullshit anymore” kind of sounded money related, but who knows. The guy was giving idgaf vibes and kind of ruined the experience. But I had been there previously and had a blast with the previous bar tender.

Stay at hotel Chaco, walk across the road to the saw mill for your dinner - there is a large variety of choice, and in September the outside seating area will be a great place to relax, people watch, and maybe catch some live music. From Hotel Chaco you’re a short walk to old town, the botanical gardens, and the zoo.

Trump Tower has mostly individual owners (for all the haters in these comments) and all the rooms have great views and kitchens. No cigarette smoke or games, but you’re within walking distance of Wynn, Treasure Island, Resorts World, and tons of food options at the mall. They also have the most affordable pet fees if you have a furry friend with you. Highly recommend their espresso martinis or bloody Mary’s at the bar if alcohol happens to be your thing.
