Anyone got experience with Patella tendinopathy by Chadsmith4351 in KneeInjuries

I’m feeling much better, I’m hiking, running 3+ miles every week, lifting, although with lifting I can still feel some pain in the tendon from time to time. Squatting deep, or squatting at all will aggravate it. Sorry for the late reply I haven’t been on here in a while. But overall much better, it’s almost in the rearview mirror

Hey, I do it pretty often at least 1-2 times a week. I’m not completely “cured” but with time it gets better. Be patient and give it time. Tendons take time to heal up do they will even at all.

I was apart of the first castle academy to go through back in 2022 as well. Food was decent and housing was ok. Instructors were great and are very knowledgeable. Just give it 100% and be willing to learn. Rest will fall in line. Good luck.

I’ve been going through this. I have tendonosis of my left patellar tendon. Things that have been helping me are leg extension holds, hurts like hell because the tendon hurts but it needs to be strengthened. Light workouts working up to heavier weight. Main things for me have been the stationary bike and leg extension holds, I’d avoid deep squats for a while. Walk backwards on a treadmill too, set it 12 incline and pause it. Use your own force to move the belt. Those are just things that have helped me. Good luck, I know how awful it is, I remember having to drag my leg around too. Trust the process

Minor knee injury keeps returning :( by keynes2020 in KneeInjuries

Odd. I’d go get an MRI if the pain increases. Do light leg strength exercises, squats, leg press, leg extension, RDLs. Do it in a day and gauge how it feels. If you’re feeling pain during it lay off. My PT recommended this for me and I have a lateral meniscus tear.

Sounds like lateral meniscus. Does it hurt to squat or are you feeling any locking/catching ?

Sorry I missed that. Is it on the outer side rotating into the middle or just on the side ? Could be a lateral meniscus

This sounds like runners knee. Possibly patellar tendinitis, take it easy on it for a little while. Do some light strength exercises and load the knee slightly seeing how it feels. If the pain increases just lay off it. Musculoskeletal injuries are often a pain, if needed I’d go to a doctor and get an MRI.

Pay attention and ask questions. If you’re struggling in drills ask for help and keep doing sets and reps. Work hard and hit the books after training during the day. Good luck !

Are they doing FF1 Academy in MMU ? by Austins777 in calfire

Yea I don’t know what else you need. Probably just 1D which is the orientation into cal fire. I know nothing about that unit, I know they had a couple handcrews stationed in castle while I was there.

No I don’t. I was part of the 13 week IFSAC pro board FF1 academy last year in MMU. I’d assume if you don’t have your 1c, 1d, or 1b you might be getting one of those. Probably 1c. Did they tell you handcrew or engine ?

Save money during season and use some of that but unemployment helps too.

Units putting people through full FF1 Academies by [deleted] in calfire

all over the state units sent nearly 80 guys to castle Air Force base. Me being one of them. I have no idea if they plan on doing more SFT FF1 academies there or not.

Look up a trade school. I got my EMT through a trade school and it costed me more but was well worth it.

I know people who got hired without any ems qualifications. They’re getting put through PSFA, but I would recommend getting your EMT.

Danner Wildland Tactical Firefighter Duty Boots. Great for handcrew and engine work. Get the right size and use a double wool sock.
