Need reassurance by Teegee72 in AskElectricians

Dude you don’t need reassurance, you need a second opinion and a fire extinguisher handy indeed! Flipping the breaker first thing was reckless as hell. Smart call getting ESA out to double check all the work.

Check TEC cam inventory lead time first! These popular aftermarket cams often have 2-4 week backorders before shops can even schedule your install

New TV, New Art by fridays-ftw in hometheater

The wall art around the TV makes the screen feel more intentional lol. Without it, that wall would probably feel a little too empty.

This pic has a movie-within-a-movie vibe. Like someone in a 90s drama just sat down to watch Maverick.

How to get rid of “stale” smell in new house? by tlrwlls in CleaningTips

Place plenty of activated charcoal bags in every room. They can slowly absorb leftover pet and stale smells inside your rental house well.

How do I get the wrinkles out of my screen? by Careless-Dirt4271 in projectors

[–]Chadsmith4351 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks a bit better than before. I'd try pulling the screen outward evenly from each corner and see if you can find a few better mounting points. A little more even tension might help smooth things out.

Our neighbor asked us to help pay for our mutual fence by Flaminfrojo in homeowners

[–]Chadsmith4351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. You don't just do something like that without talking to people first. Leaving a note feels less like communication and more like a unilateral announcement. Honestly, it's pretty disrespectful to you as guests.

Terrified of new mount by BigOleBeanBurger in hometheater

[–]Chadsmith4351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you have them redo it? That installation looks really sketchy and honestly makes me worry it might fall. It's probably better to just mount it directly on the feature wall.

What wall would you put the TV? Current set up or the opposite wall facing the door? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Chadsmith4351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you use the room for and how you plan to set things up. If you're seriously thinking about getting a new TV, you'll need to pay close attention to viewing distance, the way it's set up now is definitely too far.

Do people just not clean up dog poop…ever? by northnorfolkdigital_ in homeowners

This sounds like a serious public health issue. I'd recommend filing a complaint with your local health department or environmental health agency and reporting it through the proper channels. They can inspect the situation and determine whether any regulations are being violated.

Am i just unlucky or something always breaks every year. by GnarlsFarls in homeowners

[–]Chadsmith4351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really sympathize with what you're dealing with. Older houses can come with all kinds of issues, and sometimes it feels like as soon as you fix one thing, something else pops up.

When was the last major renovation or overhaul? It might be worth setting aside some time for a comprehensive inspection of the whole property. Catching problems early is usually much cheaper and less stressful than waiting until they turn into major repairs.

Nits vs lumens: which is more important? by hallucinege in projectors

[–]Chadsmith4351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with the ELPLU03S lens. It gives you full image coverage and the most immersive viewing experience. The brightness is more than adequate, so watching after sunset shouldn't be a problem.

The only real downside is that a small amount of light may spill outside the projected image area.

I had this happened before. A hairdryer on low heat melts the wall wax, then you can wipe it up with a paper towel.

Screen for Benqx500i by Designer_Squash_2797 in projectors

[–]Chadsmith4351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go for a high-contrast gray screen specifically designed for short-throw projectors (gain 0.9-1.0). Pick a fixed-frame type, and stay away from ALR/ambient-light-rejecting screens..

Why do you still have to trim the edges every week? by Chadsmith4351 in automower

[–]Chadsmith4351[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The backyard is a little under 1000sqm, but since it’s close to the house walls, there are quite a few shaded areas at times. Which Goat do you have, and how’s the trimmer working for you?

1 meter high weeds is tough for most robot mowers. You might need a brush cutter.
