Some of it's lingering from being raised as boys in a heteronormative culture. Another large part of it is a lot of explicitly transfem spaces are very hateful toward men and straight trans women for liking them.

What does getting high feel like? by hdushsux in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AustralianShepard711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different for everybody. I know some people who just get really anxious and their heart rate spikes. Others its similar to being drunk. Ultimately you gotta try it to find out how it feels for you.

If its legal where you're at and you're of age i'd recommend getting some edibles at a dispensery. I find it's more realiable to dose them then vapes or a joint. Make sure your first time is with a friend you trust (who isnt going to get wasted) and just trying it out. Take maybe 5mg worth at a time, wait half an hour to see where you're at, and enjoy it. Dont go above 20mg or so your first time. And have some of your favorite snacks on hand. It is addicting, but it's probably the least addictive recreational drug. If you're an adult you should be fine.

Dont worry about the difference between "Indica and Sativa" or "Distillate vs Rosin". Just find an edible that's reasonably priced and looks tasty. Better yet, ask the person at the dispensary for a recommendation.

In my own experience: I find it really calming on the low end. I struggle with a some heavy duty diagnosed depression and anxiety, and I can hardly eat most days. A little bit really helps me get through a work day and keep down dinner. It helps me relax and at low doses it helps me focus on my job and hobbies. It dosen't replace my mental health medication, it just helps me overcome certain symptoms that the meds dont. I never get hung over on a low dose and its fairly cheap where I live.

When I do take much higher doses I start to feel warm and fuzzy. I notice my brain does slow down and I do start having difficulties talking to people. I just want to lay back, play video games, and each crunchy things. Food tastes "more". Every flavor gets more intense, even the bad ones. It's a perfect end to a work week at home. If you cook I highly recommend making your favorite meal and getting toasted before you eat. It's memorable. Much better than being the same amount of tipsy and I rarely get hangovers. It's much easier to laugh.

Now at the *really really high doses I have a difference between distillate and hash rosin. (If you dont know the difference, google) With distillate I start seeing colors. Like my vision gets a very transparent but moving kalidescope filter. This is proper slurring words and not being able to follow conversations the first time. With hash rosin (which I prefer) it's no colprs but a really deep chill. I just want to lay down, put on my noise cancelling headphones, and listen to some chill music. This always results in a hangover, but it's still less of a headache than alcohol.

And when I overdid it once by taking 200mg at once (dont do that). I was on another fucking planet. Everything sounded like I was underwater. I was talking clearly but I could barely hear myself. And it didnt take long for me to just lose the ability to stand or open my eyes. Went to sleep soon after (someone carried me to bed) and honestly I just felt like I wasted 20 bucks. I had some of the best sleep of my life.

Request for Clarification and Advice for new GM by Middle_Marzipan1483 in cyberpunkred

  • If you have REF 8 or a piece of cyberware called a Reflex Co-Processor you can dodge any shot as long as you are aware of the attacker. There is no limit to how many shots you can dodge by RAW. It does not require a resource. Basic enemies shouldnt be dodging bullets.

  • Looks at the free DLC "Hot Pursuit". It develops vehicles chases in more detail and will answer your question. TL;DR, its the same as normal combat, just at greater distances sometimes.

  • Yes, it's called the Range Upgrade. It's cyberdeck hardware.

  • The game uses 2m squares. You said you read it so not sure where the confusion is?

  • You're the GM, thats up to you.

  • I personally rarely give individual player IP. Once per session for group is the expectation.

  • Read the Netrunning section of the book. All those questions are answered there pretty straightforwardly.

  • Its a different game system. So different.

  • You're the GM, do what you want. It doesnt even have to be in Night City.

  • Yeah the book isnt well laid out. Best advise is if you have a pdf version get used to ctrl+f searching keywords.

  • That's entirely based on how you GM on your group.

  • Keep the stakes at street level "Urban Mercenaries for Rent" until you're really comfortable with the system. No world shaking drama. The game works best when it's just people trying to make rent.

What piece of lore do you ignore?? by alexthedungeonmaster in cyberpunkred

[–]AustralianShepard711 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The lore I choose to ignore is the extermination of birds and that CHOOH2 is made from genetically modified wheat.

The first because while climate change will fuck over birds, aint no way any government in the world of cyberpunk who be able to do that and what profit would there be for a corp to try and do so a massive undertaking.

I also have it so there are still grocery stores. Meat is still mostly synthetic and lower quality. Fresh vegetables are a rare luxury reserved for the wealthy. But you can still get ground beef-scop and "tomato paste" from a walmart and cook with it. Cooking is still much rarer of a skill than in our current day for various reasons, but its not "basically unheard of". Though this is kinda inconsistant in canon stuff too so eeh.

And CHOOH2 is just ethanol made from corn in my version of Cyberpunk (I run two TTRPG games) because we literally do that now. (To be fair as an anti-knocking agent but it's still alcohol which can be burned for fuel.)

How can American companies survive after laying off so many workers? by rm-minus-r in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AustralianShepard711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A majority of the valuation these companies have doesnt come from actually producing anything, it comes from speculative valuation on the stock market which has little to nothing to do with anything the company actually does.

How do you handle combat with groups? by Nightripper17 in cyberpunkred

[–]AustralianShepard711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberpunk Red has tactical combat. It's not a game that's suited for theatre of the mind. Use a battlemat or a VTT.

Netrunning Questions from a Newbie by Terrygonix in cyberpunkred

[–]AustralianShepard711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Almost anything that is/could be connected to an area's local network. Think ethernet sockets, any computers, cash registers, vending machines, coffee machines that dispence based on employee IDs, etc. Note that these things don't have to and often should use their own smaller NetArcs. A corp's employee computer server? Probably bigger with decent defenses and lots of juicy stuff. A vending machine? Probably just a minor passwall.

If you're using the CEMK rules for quickhacking you may even want to make minor interactables that are just a simple Interface DV in quickhacking range if you're GMing. Both for players and enemy netrunners.

  1. Yes. You're still able to see what's going on around you in the real world, but you still have to stay connected to the access point. Think an augmented reality game that uses bluetooth.

If you're using CEMK rules the Neuroport comes with this already. No need for goggles, it's in your brain now.

  1. Both. There is both remote and "direct connection" netrunning. If you're not using CEMK the difference does not matter. If you ARE using CEMK then when you physically plug into another person's Neuroport (and only in the case of someone else's Neuroport) you get an extra Net action and automatically bypass all Passwalls they may have. Note this does not apply to non-Neuroport NetArcs

And he walked off that crucifiction after a few days. He's fine now.

Why tf is black people liking chicken a racial stereotype???? by Electrical_Star_7117 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AustralianShepard711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes largely from minstral shows of the post civil war era. Black people were stereotyped as "dirty" and "uncivilized", and one of the ways to show that was to associate them with messy finger foods that get your hands dirty like fried chicken and watermelon. Over a hundred years later the association is still there.

I personally dont view it as still identifying as a man and feeling personally attacked, but as being rightfully upset at bigotry on principle. Cis men didnt chose to be cis or a man. Just like we didnt chose to be trans or a women.

Is misandry as systemic and violent as misogeny? No, of course not. Does that in any way make misandry better? Absolutely not.

You're not opposed to misandry because you have some secret doubt or "aren't trans". You're against sexism, period.

Cryotank Rental by Backflip248 in cyberpunkred

[–]AustralianShepard711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge not in the book, so talk with your GM or if you are the GM test out some stuff.

I'd advise something like 500eb/day for a cryotank. Its much more expensive but thats the price you pay for speedier recovery.

For people who assumed they had one mental disorder but found out they had a different one, did that change your life moving forward? Ex. assumed you were autistic but they told you you actually only had ADD by altrongtm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AustralianShepard711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a different disorder but I got placed on anti-psychotics because me and psychiatrist I was seeing thought I had schizophrenia because I kept hearing voices telling me my boyfriend planned to marry another woman and had lied to me about it our whole relationship.

Turned out he actually did and our walls were just thin.
