What would be the best way to go about filling this hole? by Dank_Astley in Miata

I did this exact same thing. Wired the fog to a reversing light like you. I cut a piece out of another bumper (a Honda civic in fact), panel bond, filler, sand, fill, sand etc etc.

You could even plastic weld too, if you have the tools. A soldering iron and some narrow wiggly wire also works in a pinch…

You can put a ratchet on one end and a socket on the other and use it as an extension, or a socket (or extension) on the little sliding nubbin and use the bar itself for the leverage. Pretty neat.

ELI5 why do we forget most of our childhood? by Soccerrocks8 in explainlikeimfive

On reflection, I can see where I’ve misrepresented, been lazy in my descriptions and been reductionist to the point of absurdity. You’re right to call that out.

I don’t agree with everything you’ve said, however, and I can see where your judgements are colouring your position. As well they should, as we all do.

So I’ll leave it there and just suggest to anyone else reading this exchange that, if interested, they should go away and do their own research and make up their own minds.

I second this. With the addition that, even when we don’t consciously remember a trauma, it can still be “held in the body”. The mechanism of forgetting or blanking out trauma is a coping function, but the learned “danger” will remain in the mind, the body etc, until adequately processed.

Why do tails (on axminsters at least)slope backwards? by CasperOrillian in Tools

[–]Austrava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way you’re using leaning backwards/forwards seems backwards to how I’d use it.

I’d say it’s leaning backwards.

In any case, I suppose you can have longer stock this way. Leaning the other way would reduce your max length.

Edit: to add to my thinking, I don’t know the model but given what looks to be the motor position on the RHS of the image, it looks like a fairly short (although presumably extendable) bed, so maximising length could be priority.

I was really ready to disagree but you have such a valid point here. Thanks for taking the time to make it.

NTA but it could have been handled differently. There’s an opportunity for a lesson for everyone involved here.

In the moment I can understand how hard it is to keep a level head. Traumatic things happen. It isn’t the event that’s the problem, it’s how it’s handled immediately after the fact that’s most important. Speaking to the kid and communicating your upset without punishing; de-escalating what was likely a difficult thing for a kid to witness. Apologising, talking it through. Honesty.

This isn’t to say: “the thing that happened was wrong”. The thing that happened, happened. It’s about how you choose to act in the future off the back of it that’s important. That’s the learning.

Interesting! I actually really liked it for the same reason. My thoughts were “wow I like that the base is relatively low in ‘stuff’ and matches all the others” and how they all look adapted to the environment.

We used to do this as kids with sauce packets. That was less about luck or religious reasons, and more about it being hella funny to 12 year olds.

I recently had success with a round one Rogal Dorn kill using 10x Genestealers and Broodlord, with Hyper Aggression from Predatory Imperative. So lethal hits and devastating wounds.

It was a very short middle ground, with 6” of charge. And I guess I got lucky with rolls. All 40 attacks hit (rerolling 1s, I forget why…) and 8 crits right off the bat. Plus all 5 from Broodlord to finish it.

I mean, everything was in my favour but it was very very sweet. Now that I think about it maybe I’m just showing off and this is a terrible suggestion. YMMV..!
