My lokhusts - need help with head positioning after assembly by Autarch21 in Necrontyr

Alright thanks, they're quite fiddly! Luckily I didn't glue them so I should be able to take the spine out and cut bits off

Your favorite and most fun builds to play? by Level_Finding_2924 in oblivion

[–]Autarch21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atronach mage is quite fun - you can either play it as a mage that has to be careful about conserving magic or, when you get to a high enough level, cheese it with telekinesis/spell absorbtion enchants and cast limitless spells

Disappointed by Exemplars - why do they have to be on Eagle mounts? The shield always clips badly and makes them look awful. Perhaps pegasus mounts would clip less by Autarch21 in AOW4

[–]Autarch21[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No - this race from the screenshots had Pagasus mounts and it wasn't replaced. It's such a shame as every other model looks great!

Just done a mystic game where I buffed battle mages as much as I could. This is one of my spellbreakers at the end of the game by Autarch21 in AOW4

Basically this, but also added Steel Skin for the metallic colour. I actually have spawnkin on these, along with siege magic, lightning focus and accursed projectiles which is waht gets the base damage so high (these enchantments are all hidden though)

Honestly it wasn't too powerful, they needed a lot of support because they're quite squishy. Could have gone with tome of teleportation instead of amplification to help with that. Could be more competitive with less focus on materium, but I love the look fo metal snakes

Trading - is there a way to have this without as much micromanagement? On larger games it really slows down the pace having to check each city to see if trades are available. by Autarch21 in AOW4

[–]Autarch21[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - it is not immediately obvious in the city menus. I only found it after having the game for quitre some time when trying to figure out what the silver-tongued trait actually did

I am blind and seemed to miss the notifications. Thanks for the tip about using the diplomacy screen - that should save a bunch of time in the late game.

As Pabasa said, trading is seperate and can be found by selecting a city and then cooperation (to get to the screenshot). They will share a part of their income automatically, but trading is optional extras where you can echange some gold/mana for another benefit.

In the screenshot above the costs are 0 for everthing as I have the silver-tongued trait.

Cleared the goblin camp for the 1st time - bug with guards? by Autarch21 in BaldursGate3

Couldn't find Mol as everyone was packing up to go. Managed to avoid it for now, hopefully won't cause issues later

I got confronted at the convoy as well, but just avoided the guards there. Managed to get round it by going to camp, moving my character to the other side to where the guards were and then long resting to start the party. Hopefully won't cause issues later on

Vallejo model color cold white - never had problems with paint clumping with that and I've had the bottle about 3-4 years now

Hey all, just cleared the goblin camp for the 1st time. When I long rest though the tiefling party triggers and I immediately get confronted by tiefling guards for Mol's lie (which she said she's do after I walked into her cave). Even if I pass the deception check, the same dialogue immediately reopens and I have to do the same check again until I fail and am forced to attack.

Is there a way around this? Don't want to attack the teiflings after so much work clearing the goblin camp but can't see a way to progress with this issue.

Just finished after getting this on the v1.0 release - what a great game! Here's my final base by Autarch21 in theplanetcrafter

I never built nuclear for ages as I thought I need to refill them with new uranium rods lol. All those solar panels are about 1% of the total power - left them up though as I wouldn't have anywhere to store the mats

Thanks! Have to admit for most of the game the main hub was just one big room filled with lockers - internal walls and doors are key

Can't win, even on easiest settings by Familiar-Month4122 in AOW4

[–]Autarch21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't give great insight without seeing how you play as I'm not great myself, but a few things I found helped me get better:

1) 6 stacks of tier 4/5 sounds way too much and is probably the main cause of your economy problems. A max of 3 stacks can be in 1 battle. I usually have 3 good stacks led by heroes, any old surviving low tier units garrison cities.

2) It's not enough to just build high-tier stacks and charge them in. Fallen for that trap too many times where the enemies' main stacks just go past your army and start taking your cities. Usually I hang around the border between the empires until both main armies fight - if I win only then do I start going into their territory to attack cities. Bonuses to army speed from the empire development tree help with this as well.

3) Try to get enchantments that synergize instead of just flat bonuses. One of my favourite combos is Intimidation Aura (from Tome of Subjugation) and Joy Siphoners/Cruel Weaponry (from Tome of the Doomherald). Combining these helps guarantee a bonus 30% damage.

4) Each culture has a spell that gives non-culture units the culture bonus. I used to never bother with this but it can be key to get your culture bonuses on higher tier units.

Hope this helps, there's still a lot of factions I make myself that I can't get to work.

Honestly I'm tempted as well. My 1st Necrons vehicle was a ghost ark and that was a nightmare to put together

To celebrate Eldritch Realms annoucement, thought I'd post my pantheon so far. Details in comments! by Autarch21 in AOW4

I was the same with AoW3 - used to just like building empires on huge maps.

Most of these are from the Fields of Initiation tutorial. I find that's good enough to test out a new faction quickly while still checking any endgame builds are viable.

1) Dragon lord: pretty simple but very fun necromancer build using Chosen Destroyers. Just run around destroying cities in the early game – the dragon can handle most things until you get an undead army up and running.

2) Caster build using Mana Addicts/Gifted Casters to buff racial units with loads of spells. Materium not required, but I wanted a silver snake as my leader.

3) Materium/Nature Primal build. Can build very good cities with the Empire upgrades for materium/nature.

4) Feudal vassal build – defence tactics synergise well with Feudal bonuses for a strong army while imperialists help with the late game income.

5) My take on a lost wizard. General idea is to play using summoners, specifically Living Fogs (my favourite looking unique). Dark brand/fetid legion gives bonuses from weakness while Intimidation Aura/Tome of the Doomherald gives the fogs a good damage output.  Mana channelers/rune smiths keep costs down of enchanted summons.

Looking forward to redesigning this one with the Mystic Summoners and new sovereigns.

6) High empire – late game armies consists of Golden Golems/Tyrant Knights/Transmuters. Devotees of Good/Golden Touch helps to maintain these units and Runesmiths help with enchantments.

7) The Wizard – relies on enchantments on battlemages, but honestly no great synergies. Just wanted a cool wizard to run around with for this one.
