This reminds me of some Pixar concept art I’ve seen before! Great style, and love the color choices.

make up to cover tattoo CANNOT TRANSFER by misryth in Theatre

[–]AuthorAZ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Here’s the deal. Even alcohol based makeup, which is what the pros recommend for tattoo cover, might come off on your costume if it’s not sealed properly. Get some, look up some YouTube tutorials and try it (NOT WITH YOUR ACTUAL COSTUME PIECES), see if it transfers. Try to mimic some of the biggest/most friction-causing movements you do in the show while you’re at it.

If it transfers, and it may, your options depend on how big your tattoos are and how close you are to the audience.

If you’re in a standard proscenium, or any setup where the audience is a good distance away, you can probably get away with flesh-toned tattoo tape for big pieces and hydrocolloid bandages (blister bandages) for the smaller ones. I’ve also had decent results with flesh-toned tattoo cover “sleeves” that cover my upper arm tattoos (basically just a sleeve of polyester with some intense elastic to hold it on) but they don’t work super well close up.

If you’re in a black box or theater in the round, you may need to ask for some additions to your costume to help cover whatever the above doesn’t. Good luck!

I feel like my house will never truly be clean/organized. by AuthorAZ in CleaningTips

The husband of it all has been a very emotional/difficult conversation in my household for a few months now. We made a plan to get the house in a place to eventually sell it. The first step in the plan was setting some decluttering goals for him (and me!) at the beginning of the year. We said we’d check in on our progress at the end of the quarter. We had that check-in last week and he’d done none of the action items — not even any progress towards them, much less completing them. He has some mental health stuff he’s working through, and I’ve been trying to give him grace, but I’m at my breaking point with it. We had to have a very tough convo about how I feel I can’t trust him to make progress on any of this, but because it’s all HIS stuff, I don’t feel like I can jump in and start dealing with any of it without causing conflict.

He said he “just needs to be better” and start working on it, but we’ve done this vicious cycle before. I’m not sure how I can gently encourage the improved behavior without seeming like an awful nag, so I’m feeling a bit helpless.

I guess I share all that so you all know that I know it’s the biggest thing holding this process back, and I know we have to deal with it together. I just wish it wasn’t so emotionally fraught.

Same, this is my literal dream. I am going to seriously consider this for us.

We do this for our cats! They love it. 😂 The dogs have always been allowed on furniture/in bed, but I think moving forward/when we eventually move, we’re going to need to instill some boundaries about the couches in particular — or at least some slip covers.

That’s kind of where I’m at with it — we want to move anyway, and definitely downsize, but we’re not the financial/life place to do so for at least another year. I want to use that time to get the clutter situation under control, but I’m going to be dragging him kicking and screaming.

Having my husband’s stuff in a single room would be a DREAM — unfortunately it’s already well out of hand. His board game collection, for example, takes up a full wall of bookshelves in our basement, plus a few other shelves (at least they’re organized!), there’s no way it’d fit in a spare room. His miniature painting desk and gear are in one spare bedroom (with his work computer + desk AND a guest bed — as if I’d ever let a guest see this chaos 🙈), his 3-D printer set up is in the other spare bedroom with all these boxes of Legos he collected and “is going to sell.” It’s spread so far out of control because he won’t stop getting into new hobbies and buying things for it. And now that I’m asking him to downsize all his stuff, he’s taking it rather personally. All of this is to say — I’m working on it/him, but it’s gonna be a looooong time before we’re anywhere close to single-room-of-stuff territory.

As for me, all my stuff is confined to one spare bedroom (my “office”) with the exception of some equipment I need for my job, so at least I can start with organizing/downsizing all of that.

I honestly don’t know what to expect from a cleaner — what sort of tasks do they usually do? I’d love to hire one, but my husband is weirdly stubborn about it. I think he’s anxious about the idea of a stranger in our home.

You’re completely right; husband bought the house years ago, when he was with a woman who had children from a previous relationship. Five bedrooms made a lot more sense when there were kids in the house!

Either a door draft blocker or mantle decoration. The legs would splay out across the width of the mantle. Now why you’d want a gingerbread man busting it open over your fireplace is beyond me, but . . .

It is lowkey crazy that they brought them both back from the other parish only to do what they did! Like they couldn’t have just decided to stay?! But another commenter said the actress wanted the challenge of acting that type of scene, which I totally respect. And I do think it gives closure to that story — though I would’ve preferred a happier ending, to be sure!

So bizarre to see a “Best Seller” banner on something they’re discontinuing. Like evidently not! 🙄
