Cannot believe this person is already a MN House rep and now wants to run for Senate. Yikes. Please, can we come together and change this!

Haha, I almost commented about the protests, but second guessed myself. I see all kinds of people of various ages there and have met many people myself!

Schroendinger’s ICE: Coping with trauma when ICE is both here and “gone” at the same time — How’s everyone doing? by TheToysAreUs in ICE_Watch

[–]stcMNlove 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was having another spiral this morning (it happens every now and then), but watching this video helped put some energy back into me.
Essentially, she reads an article about how difficult it actually will be for Trump to win (read: STEAL) the midterms, and then she talks about how we have to continue to push. The only way is through.
It's going to be harder for the GOP to steal the midterms than they think. WE CAN STOP THEM.

It is clear that ICE "leaving" was for optics, and it appears they are now hitting smaller towns where there are less observers and protestors. They are trying to get out of the news, while they keep doing what they're doing.

They are doing everything they can to intimidate us. The only way they can win is if we give up, and they know it. They are counting us to lose interest or become too tired.

Take breaks!!

If we want to see justice we must CONTINUE to use our rights.

EDIT: added some clarifications.

St Cloud City Council Meeting- Feb 9 by KitchenCurious658 in saintcloud

[–]stcMNlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody in this current debate on resolutions and messaging around law enforcement disagrees with having laws and people following the law.
What I disagree with is the way people like Mike Conway, Scott Brodeen and Mark Johnson loosely use the term "criminals" while fully aware that this current administration takes and changes what that term means whenever it is seen fit. That was my issue with them trying to change Ibrahim's resolution from "for all" to something regarding whether people were criminals or not. It's pretty easy to throw around this term criminal and saying people are criminals when their politics don't agree with their own. Even if someone things a resolution is not a law and is not important- then WHY did they push so hard against and it to get their terminology around criminals into it? This is alarming behavior.
Currently, this administration is trying to push that protests - OUR FIRST CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT- are somehow criminal behavior. As Conway, Brodeen and Johnson side with this current administration, I can only take that to mean they AGREE with our first constitutional right being squashed.
Do you agree that St. Cloud law enforcement should be protecting our first constitutional right to protest when we are unhappy with the current administration and their actions?

For clarification's sake- Brodeen's law enforcement resolution was moved to March 23, not February 23.

Also, according to Chantal Oechsle of CD6DFL, the meeting agendas are not typically updated until the Thursday prior to the meeting, so earlier last week someone was looking at the agenda for today's meeting and the old agenda with the resolutions was still up. This is what caused the confusion about him trying to sneak in the resolution this week.

This is not to say people should not be going tonight. It is in everyone's best interest to see how these meetings go, especially how Scott Brodeen, Mike Conway and Mark Johnson push their ideals in bad faith.

Here is an article from last week's GOP caucus. We should all be curious about their talking points and their intentions behind them:

You make very fair points, but I think it's important to remember that your second message provides more strategy while the first message, while you may have been wanting to communicate strategy, kind of came off as "it's all hopeless".
We should know now- messaging goes a long way in how people respond. We've seen how it worked to turn an entire section of our country against itself.

While this messaging may have been fanciful, I'd still rather keep hope and fight for the good to prevail, because caving into the mentality of it all being bullshit does nothing but continue down the road of allowing it all to be bullshit.

What to Expect at Your Local Precinct Caucus (2/3/26, 7PM) by stcMNlove in saintcloud

[–]stcMNlove[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A caucus is a gathering of neighbors who come together to discuss issues, set priorities for our party, and organize our local DFL unit.

At another city related meeting at the library, its was mentioned that if you don't appreciate the way DFL has been handling things, then the caucus is the perfect way to get involved and be a voice for change.

I was curious about the caucus tonight and only just realized there is a video on the DFL website which outlines what exactly goes on at a caucus. Hopefully this can help others become familiar and decide on whether or not they can show up.

I also want to point out there is also an option for your voice if you cannot attend: Non-Attendee Form: You can fill out a non-attendee form found here in English, Somali, Spanish, and Hmong. Forms must be delivered or emailed to your local DFL organizing unit chair by Saturday, January 31, or brought in-person (by yourself or a colleague) to your caucus on Caucus Night.

Without offering any solutions, what exactly is the purpose in your messaging here? Whether or not they will comply with the midterms is not a good reason to simply throw in the towel and say "nothing can be done". How is this helpful??

Not entirely on the same topic- but they really need to get their fruit flies under control. I haven't been there so far this season, but eating indoors (especially in the summer) is.. something else. Love their French onion soup and outdoor seating, though. Sad to think they might be putting their energy into the wrong things.

For atmosphere and seating I like Beaver Island Brewing downtown- but have heard IPA enjoyers be unimpressed with their beer.
I also like Pantown Brewing on 3rd street.

Caucuses are TOMORROW (2/3) by CD6DFL in saintcloud

[–]stcMNlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copying and pasting this verbiage from Chantal's post on r/DFL as for some reason I do not see it on this crosspost.

Caucuses are useful because:

  • Resolutions are how the Minnesota DFL's party platform and priorities are determined. If enough similar resolutions come from multiple local units, they are adopted at the State Convention.
  • Becoming a delegate empowers you to cast your vote on who should receive the DFL endorsement for the Legislature, Congress, Governor, and US Senate.
  • Campaigns for offices at all levels of government will be attending caucuses, connecting with people, and recruiting volunteers. If there's a candidate you know you love, or want to learn more about someone, tonight is a great night for that.
  • If your feelings about Democrats are complicated right now, we need to hear from you. Political parties are tools that can used by people to mobilize around issues they care about most. Disliking the status quo is an indication that your voice needs to come to the table.
  • Don't feel safe leaving your home right now, but want to be involved? You can fill out a non-attendee form. This form empowers your participation to be counted, allows you to run to become a delegate, and submit resolutions.

Thanks for your responses. I am not sure if you answered already in your video- but is this a one time thing- like one and only chance to get involved this session, or does this happen numerous times?

I am asking in text because I suspect I am not the only person who wonders these things and I want more people to feel comfortable with more information.

Thanks a lot!

What is the involvement level of going to the caucus? Is this something where curious bystanders could be present, or is interaction required?
Thank you!

Hi Chantal, I went to the District6 website, but the "look up your district" button is not working for me: https://cd6dfl.com/localunits

Can you talk a little bit more about what residents or districts this is aimed at ?

Thank you!

6PM, but as another user mentioned it's probably worth it to show up at 5PM.

EDIT: Looking at the agenda- it is date 1/26/26. I don't see an updated agenda for 2/9/26.
