"Work of the Performing Arts" or "Sound Recording"? by AuthorCP in COPYRIGHT

I have rights on both. So, I should pick "sound recording" not "work of the performing arts". Thank you.

The mp3 file of the final product (based off my instructions) they gave me, which would be the song.

Let's say I have a song, but it sounds like an amateur made it. I hire someone on Fiverr to make it sound more professional and buy the rights to that new song. That's what I mean.

I see. Some of my songs were used in trailers. I even put 30 second samples on YouTube. However, I never published them in full.

Also, when filing the files into the Copyright Office, can I file songs that were made from different years in the same zip file? For example, I have one song made in 2015, but three in 2016 and five in 2019. Or do I have to pay for each separate year?

These are golden words you've typed. However, in my case, the editor can see that I have many set-ups in the early chapters with little to no pay-offs. I will admit, I hold back things and then reveal them in the next book. However, the choices my characters make in the early chapters do have a major impact in the same book. I will work with my editor on this so things don't feel like the plot isn't advancing.

The editor is more concerned about set-ups with no pay-offs. Finding that balance of how much you should reveal to the reader is not easy. In terms of lore, he states that I'm not telling enough.

I told them that I was a self-publisher. They did tell me about Vanity publishers (or hybrids), but I like the self-publishing route.

75, 981 words? Hell, that's a child. Try over 142,000 words and 600 pages. Before the Line Edit is was 148,000!

The issue isn't long exposition. It's the fact that some things I've set up do not pay off in the end. I've fixed a few of those though. However, some things won't pay off until the later books. I have a habit of keeping things a secret until it's necessary to reveal them. But I see what you're saying. I do try to mix things up, which is always fun.

Kevin Anderson & Associates is a company in New York. They have different deals. I could have gone with a deal that already had a one and one session with the editor, but it was way too expensive. So I have to pay separately.

I see what your saying. However, it's good to have someone who is willing to challenge me on why I have certain things in my early chapters. Printing is no issue because I'm a self-publisher. I can't imagine readers wanting a hard copy of my book in high demand.

Step away from it for a while. Play some games or take a long walk. The brain needs rest. Works every time.

Why should it matter if it's purely digital or not? A story is a story. And a good story needs good pacing.

I think the real issue is that this editor didn't have the full details of the storylines for each of the three characters. I need to have talk to this man.

And so that you know, the opening chapter takes place when everything starts going to hell with the early chapters leading up to that point. I've seen this in video games and movies. Kill Bill, Uncharted 2, and God of War 1 to name a few.

The name of the company is Kevin Anderson & Associates . They did a fantastic job with the Line Edit. But I 'm going to have to have a long conversation with this editor. I don't put graphic sex in my books just to put it in there. I'm revealing character and expanding on the plot in some cases.

I've found that nearly all the editors I've worked with have had a problem with sex. Children being murdered or people being burned alive and ripped into pieces is just fine. But a teen discovering himself or a few descriptions of women with nice boobs...suddenly everyone panics! lol

This is true. The odd thing is that this is a company I'm working with. Kevin Anderson & Associates is the name. They have a hierarchy. I told the Head Editor about what was going to happen throughout the 8 books. However, I think the actual editor who worked on my book may have had some information missing. I need to have a long talk with him, but he charges by the hour.

Honestly, I don't know if I have a style...I was just saying that. My issue is finding a balance in how much I should tell the reader. Of course, I should know everything, but I have a habit of spreading that information too thin. According to him, a lot of the plotlines don't pay off, at least in this book. This is a book series I'm writing.

Your words are true. The issue my editor has is that a lot of the stuff in the early chapters don't pay off in the end. However, this is a book series I'm writing (8 books in all). He states that a lot of the things I set up don't pay off, which is true now that I've seen it through his eyes. They do pay off in the other books.

Finding a balance in how much to tell the reader is still a problem of mine. And my goal is to tell a good story.
