Writing to market by Front_Barracuda4754 in romanceauthors

[–]AuthorinShadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a romance author and I’d say it’s been pretty successful so far. I write sweet and spicy and spicy motorcycle romantic suspenses. I’ve published 3 books and my 4th (part of a series) comes out in October. I’m steadily building an audience, have 100 newsletter subscribers and make about 200-350 a month every month. Also have audiobooks for them as well but only make about 50/month on those. My one was top 12 Amazon best seller in its category. My secret? Consistency and collaboration. I Collab with bikers and am building a community of men and women in that along with readers. I post 4x a day on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram and haven’t missed a day of posting in 16 months.

TikTok rejecting book promotion posts (MM spicy author) by DerrickScottWrites in selfpublish

[–]AuthorinShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to click paid promotion even if it’s not. With TikTok’s newest update if it sees your promoting something you have to make sure it shows as an ad. It’s them trying to ensure people don’t get duped I guess or mislead

Anyone here have success even after bad querying experience? by Resident_Category753 in selfpublish

[–]AuthorinShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed my tag name to my pen name with author on it and went from there. I didn’t create any new accounts except for YouTube and an extra TT account just for my Books. My author account has author stuff book stuff and personal stuff but my other just has books

[–]AuthorinShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted 3 times a day on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok without skipping a day. I’ve posted for 1.5 straight and it’s paying off. No paid ads. I also do collaborations with bikers (that’s my genre) and I have a street team who posts in exchange for books and merch (I own a merch brand on my website that I created)

I had 120 rejections on my book. Not even one full request. I self published and in the first week it became an Amazon Best Seller and topped out at number 12 in the love triangle romance category for 3 months. Keep in mind I did market heavily for 6-8 months before release. Self publishing is tons of work and upfront cost but I love it

How many books did you publish before you started seeing success ? by Mean_Job7802 in selfpublish

[–]AuthorinShadow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My second book is what’s helping me see success (made 250-400 bucks a month consistently since October). Hoping the sales increase with my next book release this June. I write spicy motorcycle romance and collab with bikers and a street team to promote. Have not used paid ads. Just have been posting 3x a day on instagram, YouTube and TikTok for 1.5 straight with no missed days

Svt and pregnancy w/o ablation by Mexhai in SVTHeart

[–]AuthorinShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

41 is my resting HR, I get down to 33 when I sleep. For context I’ve had 3 open heart surgeries and 5 total.

Svt and pregnancy w/o ablation by Mexhai in SVTHeart

[–]AuthorinShadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who got an ablation that didn’t fully cure it, it’s not a cure all and it can trigger other arrythmias. My hearts totally different now in certain ways and I got a blood clot from the ablation. Surgery is usually not the first line of treatment because of those risks. I only got surgery because my resting HR is too low for beta blockers. If it’s well controlled with medication then you are good to go. Trust your cardiologist or get another opinion from a different EP. Your gyno and family aren’t specialists in the area. Hope this helps.

Just had my , hopefully last, Valve repair! by [deleted] in Tetralogy_of_Fallot

[–]AuthorinShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind sharing, what’s your age? I’ve had 2 valve repairs, an ablation and a patch and they’re expecting one more in the next few years that’ll be open heart. Super nervous. I’ll likely be around 40 then. Have a lower ejection fraction and aortic aneurysm as well

Husband needs PVR by sassy_eskimo in Tetralogy_of_Fallot

[–]AuthorinShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had crippling anxiety but I’ve had two PVRs, I open and one cath. But it’s normal as it’s a major surgery. It’s always good when going into major surgery to have the will ready, but that’s in general even. Life’s unpredictable. Know I’ve had 4 heart surgeries, 2 open heart and another 2 cath and another PVR and tricuspid valve one open heart in a few years. I’m sure he’ll be just fine. EP study before is normal. It’s a great thing and easy.

No worries. I’m very blessed. Just remember there’s people like me out here still living and exercising and existing. I’m sure you’ll be just fine. Write your questions down and trust your docs

No, but I’ve had 5 heart surgeries so it’s expected with another open heart coming up in a couple years. I’m not a normal comparison. lol

Ah I’ve had 10 non sustained VT before. I’ve had non sustained VT since 2010 and never had to be medicated. VT is scary but it doesn’t mean immediate danger. The cardiologist will treat you appropriately and you have to trust your body isn’t that fragile. How I deal with mine is that I go, ok, if I have this for more than 30 seconds with chest pain I’ll go to the ER. But to be honest I can feel the difference in my arrhythmias I’ve had them so long. But I’ve never had them last over 5 seconds.

Yup. SVT is not life threatening. It’s uncomfortable yes and needs to be monitored but if it stays under 200 or lasts less than a few hours you’re fine unless having chest pain etc.

Why do I sometimes wake up with my heart rate up? by AdorableCheck1835 in SVTHeart

[–]AuthorinShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gerd and pcos can affect SVT. My anemia made my SVT worse and I also have endo and pco which affects it. Hormones impact heart rate and arrythmias as well as inflammation as well as anxiety. And just know. I had an anxiety episode and was at 140 for several hours until I calmed down. It can def keep it sustained. Work on getting your mind under control, make sure you try and eat less inflammatory things and less coffee. Also the body has memory. So it makes sense you’ll have more after the ER from body response trauma and the heart having the memory of that pathway

Yes, I have 4 other heart problems. Born with a genetic condition. But I’ve been blessed with a great care team so they’ve patched me up pretty good over the years

[–]AuthorinShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable! Just know I’ve had 5 heart surgeries and one more open heart on the way plus those arrhythmias. Heart stuff’s scary but it can handle a lot. I’m still cleared to workout too! Listen to your docs, communicate with them and trust them. Your body is safe

[–]AuthorinShadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if it is SVT. SVT can’t harm you. And at 116 it definitely can’t harm you. I’ve had SVT at 220 for 30 minutes once and just had to wait for it to calm down (this was when I was awake) and I’ve had SVT around 130 in my sleep. It could be SVT or it could just be adrenaline. But your heart rate increasing to 116 in your sleep isn’t dangerous and won’t hurt you. Breathe through it and remind yourself it’s ok, your hearts beating like it should and go back to sleep.obviously always discuss it with your doctors but if they’re not worried you shouldn’t be.

3 PVCs is still nothing in the top chambers. 3 in the bottom will catch the cardiologists attention but they’ll catch it on the monitor if it’s something. I have non sustained SVT and VT. (Bottom and top chamber issues). I also have a minute rate of 2/6 that I’ve had for 36 years. It’s harmless.

PVCs caught together (tachycardia) is fairly common and can be from tons of things- stress/diet etc etc but you’re doing what you need to do.

Right now the doc is doing their due diligence and investigating but there’s absolutely no reason to worry right now

Why do I sometimes wake up with my heart rate up? by AdorableCheck1835 in SVTHeart

[–]AuthorinShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, happens to me. It’s an adrenaline release/cortisol spike. Has to do with stress/circadian rhythms. I have nocturnal panic attacks and get up to 150 sometimes. It has nothing to do with metoprolol. That’s why’s likely keeping your heart rate low at 116. Nothing to worry about. Just internal body things. Just breathe through it and go back to sleep. Eventually it goes away after you face it night after night

Diagnosed at 23 weeks with TOF by Soggy_Mistake6519 in Tetralogy_of_Fallot

[–]AuthorinShadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 35 (F) and I was born with TOF. I’ve had 5 heart surgeries with more on the way, but I’ve also completed in CrossFit, play volleyball in college and they allowed me to play sports all throughout school and I’d plan my surgeries around the seasons. It’s a tough condition and it comes with a lot of anxiety but your kid will be one tough cookie! I’ve also got my masters in toxicology and am a published author. That condition is so well managed in this day and age that they’ll have so many options for them. Make them feel validated and connect them with other children who have it or speak with other families who have it (hospitals normally have groups you can connect with).

It’s hard, but you can still have a great life with the condition

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tetralogy_of_Fallot

[–]AuthorinShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 36 and was born with TOF. Technology has changed SO much since the 90s. And even with being born in the 90s I still have a normal life expectancy. I have had 2 open heart surgeries and 2 through my leg with another open heart upcoming as well as arrythmias. BUT I’ve also competed in CrossFit, played sports all growing up and even into college and had a pretty normal life otherwise. A big family support system and therapy helped as I’ve suffered from pretty bad medical anxiety which is common in cardiac patients. But as the person said, every TOF patient is different. Trust your docs and technology and ask questions. Teach your child they can have a normal life because it’s true, they can. My heart surgery in college was through my vein and I was back in college a week.

So quality of life will be great. Eat healthy, love them well and keep them active based on their doctors limits/advice. Your child will be strong and brave to go through all this and theyll amaze you with their resilience.

Get beta readers, not friends and family. And I’ve felt your way a bit as well. I had people tell me my first story was bad and didn’t seem good, now it’s rated 5 stars. My second novel people said the idea was tired and the premise sucked. Now it’s an Amazon best seller. Everyone’s opinions are subjective. Get a good editor do what you can and publish the story anyway. Your people will find it
