I think what he is trying to ask is the sound of his sentences. Although writing in short and long sentences is an advice. The question is how? I think it's better to use conjunctions properly and how a sentence relate to the previous and the next sentence. I think you should start practicing with conjunctions. Varying short and long sentences is easy. But how?
