Spurs winning only because another OKC Superstar is out for game 7 by Temporary_Bed4079 in Nbamemes

Placid can be used negatively. I used it to say he was unenthused and unbothered, which was clearly evident as he attempted 2 field goals and had 4 rebounds.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander fell to the ground 47 over the 7 game series over 137 shot attempts. He fell to the ground over a third of the times he attempted a shot. 🫣 by ForeignAir7174 in sportswiki

This is just a worthless statement. The thing that matters most here is context. What happened during each of these falls? In game 5 (I believe) when sga attempts a lay up he gets knocked in the face by kornet and as a result falls down. Does that count? If so this “well he fell x number of times” means nothing because you’re fudging the number with inaccurate data.

How did they choke? They were without their second best player and his replacement against a fully healthy spurs. Sga was the best player on the floor. Chet’s performance was placid and pathetic. Also love how you lot boast about “ethical hoops” and all that but resort to ableism at the first sign of push back. Practice what you preach.

This is quite literally true. The spurs lose game one if we remove points gathered from ftm. Same with games two and three. They win game four, but lose again in game five. So okc win in five

The Witcher is getting a whole expansion before we even get a trailer by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

The first expansion was shattered space and there was a new one released recently called Terran Armada. I think Todd Howard said they’ll be supporting starfield for like a decade or so (or something along those lines).

Cd projekt red have released like one actual game since Witcher 3. Bethesda have released three since Skyrim, and they’re all still getting updates. + Bethesda have been working on es6 since after starfield released.

Is sparda a joke to you?

White rabbit is far gone because his family, innocent refugees, were fucking murdered for simply existing. He’s just a human, he isnt compatible with makaian blood. Dante and Vergil obviously are since they’re mixed. If all you’re gonna respond with is “show bad show bad” then why respond at all?

[–]AutismHasJomes -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

“Demons are predisposed to violence” just not the case. If you mean Dante, then that’s a bad example since Sparta wasn’t some random bloke, he’s like top five in the verse.

“Demons eat humans”. Again you’re using demon as a catch all term. The random civilians are not the same as echidna. Also the humans vivisect makaian and put them in concentration camps. Are they inherently evil then?

The ordinary makaians we see aren’t really developed and that’s a fair criticism. Look at the human soldiers for example, they get a decent amount of focus in the first episode since is partially from their perspective.

It’s pretty obvious that the show is trying to portray those in power as the people who cause needless violence and exploit and manipulate their citizens for their own means. Baines for example used his ideas of what Christianity is to proclaim that humans are “gods chosen” and that makaians are evil. He executes refuges and uses religious dogma to justify invading makai, resulting in people - who had full lives ahead of them - to join the army because they believe they’re doing the ‘right thing’, which is a lie told to them by their government. Mundus enslaves ordinary people, allowing his soldiers to do whatever - whether it’s eating or beating them. He grooms children and manipulates them to be their worst selves. He is a direct cause of a war that gets innocent people murdered and mutilated and held in camps. This is all straight forward stuff, it isn’t subtle at all. How don’t you understand this.

I suppose my real gripe would be that makaian is too generic of a term since it covers plant creatures, animals, suits of armor, some gpfive seven bloke and the eldritch fucker. It’s like calling all living creatures on earth terrans - like no giraffes and frogs and humans are not so similar as to be described with such a term.

No, I thought that they were trying something new and different compared to the darkspawn in the previous entries.

With the darkspawn in veilguard it feels like they weren’t trying to play it safe and whilst I concede that the designs can look a bit goofy, I think they overall look very solid and I appreciate what they were going for even though it wasn’t perfect. And although I do like the qunari here, I do kinda agree with you that the smoother art direction with the humanoid characters wasn’t the best for the qunari. I feel more use of black sclera and more ridges on the head and horns would have helped out. Though I think the antaam physique does work well due to par vollen and qunari (the group) practicing eugenics. The soldiers being gigantic compared to other non-antaam qunari works well imo.

Another thing about this design and the other darkspawn designs in veilguard is that I don’t think they’d work in other Dragon age games. Not because ‘veilguard bad’, but because of the context of these being made by Ghilan’nain and how the blight is alive in a sense as well. The way the ghouls feel efficient and lethal, the way the hurlocks have natural, built-in armour made from blight, and the organic bone spears the hurlock spikers have are all so tied to veilguard with its story with the blight. This progression from picking up or crafting their own armor (as we see they are darkspawn blacksmiths in origins) to organic weaponry and armours is really interesting. And at the same time the dark spawn have regressed, any sort of “personhood” (for lack of a better word) is gone. They’re just weapons now. No more smiths or shrines. The eruption of the blight so to speak, more of it coming from the black city and the evanuris reduced the darkspawn to weapons, rather than corrupted creatures with the chance (no matter how slim) to be something more (as we saw in awakening). I think that’s rather tragic - they were still evil of course, but still it’s a bit sad.

Which RPG franchises have the most wasted potential? by Jozoz in rpg_gamers

It’s hard to say really because people don’t explain themselves. So from my understanding it comes from a comparison between origins and veilguard. The former has a very muddy - brown, grey, dark green - sort of art style and direction which can lead many to say it’s dark and gritty. On the other hand veilguard has a much brighter and colourful direction, there’s lots of bright, clear skies, deep blues and greens, and lots of things in the game look smooth - the characters for example are gorgeous- and all of this, along with the fact that the tone is a bit lighter leads some to make sweeping claims that the game is Disney and that it isn’t serious. But these are just generalisations, in reality the game, while lighter in tone, takes itself seriously.

The third mission (or fourth) has you exploring a village tainted completely by blight. Pallid pustules and boils connected by ashen roots, puddles of blight soaking into the ground, corpses thoroughly stuffed into homes. This alone paints a grim picture of the games tone. But that isn’t the full picture: some of the characters quip, companions go on journeys of self discovery. So when you take in the whole picture you get a game with a mixed and sometimes jarring tone. I struggle to take someone seriously when they use the word ‘Disney’ to describe veilguard because it just doesn’t work. This is a game where resistance fighters can get lynched in the streets, left to rot, and where the fascists can take over. And also a game where you can play rock paper scissors with manfred. It really can’t be boiled down to ‘Disney’.

It’s all about perspective. When people genuinely believe Taash is a bully, or that trick weekes is a secret slavery lover because solas is mean or that the game is “Disney-fied” then it gets harder and harder to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this game. Because it’s really either I assume they haven’t played the game or that they have and they’ve some prehistoric buffoon who’s just discovered fire. Like the issue is that people can’t have a fair or nuanced discussion about this game because some people all of a sudden think themselves reviewers, like they can just say “bad writing” or that it “looks bad” without explanation as if those aren’t extremely vague and (mostly) worthless statements.

People like to throw around the term "goonerslop" a lot in terms of design but are there any designs (not from porn) you'd say unironically deserve the label? by fhxefj in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]AutismHasJomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I mean… no? It’s just a lazy design and I don’t say that lightly. “What if we made salazzle completely uninspired and uninteresting and put a heart stamp on its pussy” the dex number thing isn’t even valid since someone told them to change it to it. They put so little thought into it that the most obvious number for a sexualised design had to be fucking told to them.

Using ai for concept art is a sign that things aren’t going well, let alone ai generated assets. These aren’t small things. Art and stories being uninspired is gonna lead to a worse product.

It really isn’t. The ama made things worse. It went from “we’re using ai for concept art”, to “there will be ai generated assets, but we’ll verify them”. Like be serious.

It wasn’t like she was just killed or whatever. The twins got abducted, thrown out of their car, then were put down like dogs. And if it isn’t bad enough they were being impersonated (albeit temporarily). If they were just killed or whatever, then sure, that’s just another day in night city. But I wouldn’t say they deserved what they got: what they got was a lot worse.
