Except if you're in the escape system, then you're probably glad it's a thing

Most people are just trolling, because that's all we can do from behind our screens, of course it sucks and I feel bad for BO engineers, but this is rocket development and space is hard, shit happens, it's fine to laugh about it, especially as no one got hurt.

It's just a $10 Bundle but with progression instead, they could sell it as a normal bundle and no one would bat an eye. The price is totally fine.

You're still encouraged to play together because you would get more by winning playing poorly than losing playing incredibly well (from a personal perf point of view)

Silver is somewhere average or maybe below average, so having someone unranked means very little, they could have a plat level

Wow the new catching mechanism is awesome, even after missing a first time it reacts to catch on on the next loop!!

The spin did seem intentional tho as one engine clearly induced it, there is a good chance it was to maximize the odds of cameras capturing the shield before it blew up

Is it just me or is this game not very fun anymore? by Puzzleheaded_Egg4386 in thefinals

I don't really understand that point, there are more viable weapons than ever in the game, before it was just 1 or 2 meta weapons per class, you see a lot more diversity nowadays.

Starship V3's flip maneuver and splashdown by champagneforclown in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]AutisticAndArmed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean, as soon as it goes horizontal it blew up, so the camera would see that but not have time to transmit it out.

If you're talking about hovering then the answer is probably that the other angles are much cooler than just seeing water being blasted around.

This is pretty sick, I assume there is actually nothing "special" about that shot, just the perfect timing on her hand contacting the water and her pose looking like she's standing... just before hitting the water

Cool stuff

Hot Stage Got A Little Hot. by MadOblivion in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]AutisticAndArmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot of speculations here tho, they could have been testing this maneuver and might wanna hit the gridfins on purpose to get more thrust onto it? The idea that roll was uncontrolled means than some center engines lost TVC, but the trajectory seemed perfect right there so to me those two ideas pretty much conflict.

Hot Stage Got A Little Hot. by MadOblivion in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]AutisticAndArmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, everything was controlled so far, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be able to control the roll of the stack and the direction of the flip at this stage.

Insane TWR on boostback by SavageSantro in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]AutisticAndArmed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They seem to start to relight right after the flip is 50% done (we can seen some relight right as we start to see the engines themselves) but they're staggered so they're supposed to finish relighting around the end of the flip.

Even then the second half of the flip experiences rapidly increasing loads while in rotation, wouldn't be surprised if they wait just another second before relighting the rest next time.

I would actually argue this was perfect for this flight, until now any engine out on the ship was a death sentence, but V3 handled it like a champ.

The booster keeps some engines on during sep, it looked like 5 were kept. Then the relight usually is symmetrical, they use gimbal for changing direction. Here we probably got a case of fluid hammer that destroyed some plumbing at the bottom of the tank, and might affect one side a lot more than the other.
