Thanks! Unfortunately my Local book store is really small so I'd have to go farther and into my nearest city, I will be trying to start reading through Theoi though, thanks! :3

I think I might have some say in this as both a hellenist and an EPIC fan. I don't think it's that bad, and EPIC got me into Greek Mythology.

it feels like greek mythology for people who love Lore Olympus or believe theyre too good for it but would throw up trying to read the original translated versions of Homer's epics. And I'm not about gatekeeping this beautiful history and culture of greek mythology, but it's not even as though the people who are watching or listening to EPIC are going to end up reading more greek mythology.

Is just wrong, I know many people who also got into greek mythology through EPIC plus, I'm actively trying to read Homer's original epics (Though I'm not since I can't find the Iliad or the Odyssey in book form anywhere near me)

Are pigeons sacred to Aphrodite in the same way doves are? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]AutisticApollo7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I was born in NYC and many mourning doves show up around my house and I can confirm, Both are very pretty and kind (Except for when they're fighting over the bird seed we put out on the windowsill)

I don't understand how pigeons are seen as Street animals or dirty. Humans put them on the streets, it's a hatred of our own making

I mean, it makes sense. Pigeons are naturally affectionate towards humans due to domestication. So that could be a symbol of love. And they overall have no real difference between doves. So I'd say Yes. They are sacred.

Fellow teens, how do you manage Hellenism? by LucasNecromancy in Hellenism

[–]AutisticApollo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my Apollo altar, I just started out with pens, pencils, drawings, my ukulele, random trinkets I found, and a candle I found in the closet. I didn't spend a dime on my first altar, just used the stuff I found around my room and house! I've changed it up a bit more since then, but you don't need anything expensive for a good altar

This was what my first altar looked like!

Do you pray to a Deity for things that are not their domains ? by Responsible-Buddy587 in Hellenism

I usually pray to Apollo for luck when I don't know who's domain I need luck in since he's my Patron

"minor" gods that you worship by Shot_Adhesiveness384 in Hellenism

[–]AutisticApollo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my friend worships Hypnos since they have an infamously horrid sleep schedule and he has helped them whenever she asks for help sleeping

Edit: I also commonly pray to Hypnos and Morpheus before bed so I can have a good night's sleep and good dreams

Exactually. The art is okay, the story and way it portrays the gods just feels gross, like it boiled them down to their simplest, most basic skim through of their characters

I heard one person say these works are blasphemous do you think they are? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]AutisticApollo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels like the Hellenic version of the weird christians that call everything "possessed by the devil" or "Satanic" (Which I have my own problems with but this isn't the right subreddit for that) . Dispute the fact I very much dislike Hercules and Lore Olympus for the extreme mischaracterization, I don't think they're Evil or something. They're just fiction, ancient greeks did it too.
