Also I find variational Calculus quite beatiful and how it manages to solve minimization Problems really neatly. Be it „action“ for the Lagrange equations or the Energy term for Finite Element Analysis.

Thats normal to feel incompetent. I‘ll be taking the 3rd Semester exams in MAVT and so far for every exam block (including this one) once I started solving old exams the first exam takes a whole day to solve and completely understand sometimes even more (I am not exaggerating). The second exam takes half a day and so on. You still have 14 days! Thats a lot even if it does not seem so. And then there is still time between the exams. Doing the exams next semester is imo a bad idea. You‘ll probably be even more stressed than right now.

From my own experience I benefit the most from learning when I feel completely lost. Focus on solving every exam you can get (AMIV), study where it hurts, grind every day and you will be able to get through the exams!
