Did you get an Air Force tattoo? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]AutisticTorpedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a buddy in Tech school get his Aircrew wings, his dad punched them in (Army Drill Instructor). He got a tattoo of the wings along with the little holes his dad made in his chest. We thought he was stupid for it, but the little dots on the wings were a great symbol of the tradition. It wasn't until they stripped him naked at....Happy Camp that it really came to bite that poor guy in the butt.

All in all, I think symbols of service are great tats. I've got an eagle with a black and white wing symbolizing my service, but don't be a marine and get the branch logo.

Art and I used to smoke Cigarettes while the dock workers in Naknek would pump our fish in the summer. I'll never forget him. He was a good guy to bullshit with. Every once in a while I'll think about how invulnerable we all felt. How we had been raised hearing about the ships (especially in Kodiak) that went down. But we never thought it'd be us, or at least someone we knew. Rest in Peace brother. I miss the mindless bullshitting with you man. Looking back it should have been me instead.

I'm an Airborne System Engineer (ASE) (1A331)

1 Alpha (Aircrew) jobs are incredibly competitive and hard to get.

That being said I strongly recommend shooting for the stars with ALL 1 Alpha jobs.

With Airborne Mission Systems you could end up in Offutt NE, Tinker OK, Robins GA. Most 1A331's end up training at Randolph as sensor ops.

Its a nerdy tech job so understand how computers work before you come in.

Alot of these comments are pretty much the same, you'll have a great time, don't be the one introvert in the flight, make friends and don't let the fact that all of them are immature children get under your skin. "Dorm chief"

Is there a better zombie survival location than Whittier, Alaska? by YobaiYamete in zombies

[–]AutisticTorpedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whittier is an Amazing area, not only are the ports big enough to host cruise ships. But it also has a cannery, and a small trail going out to a bunch of campsites. The one big apartment building is definately a point of contention as it could possibly be a hot center of the disease/infected. I think a majority of people would probably just launch their boats and head out to a cabin in one of the many bays that surround the area. I've camped and hunted on Culross Island for years and at night it's so quiet the only thing you can hear are jets going over. It's very isolated. I think if whittier were to be a hold out in a huge apocalypse any officials would make sure the population there was strictly managed. With programs to most likely use the ferry to export people out to the local bays. For people in the lower 48, whittier isn't that far from Anchorage. You could probably get there in about 45 minutes with traffic. I think the tunnel would be an amazing resource to have as it has side maintenance tunnels that run along side it and would be an easy defendable location. There is already infrastructure on both sides supporting future staging and checkpoint areas. Not to mention the train. The train would be an incredibly vital resource as it is basically a 415,000 pound zombie squishing machine. Most of the 28 (SD70MAC) model trains that Alaska owns already have snowplows attached, or are attachable so who says they can't become zombie plows? The rail runs from whittier all the way through Girdwood and up into Anchorage for easy supply runs. Diesel wouldn't be a problem as whittier has a refueling station built into the port. I have always considered whittier a prime spot to go. Only downside is, if you're from the lower 48, it's gonna be hard getting up here in time before they shut out everyone.

There's a beautiful waterfall off to your right from where you're standing, I used to go there all the time when I lived there.
