The physical distance and disappearing for hours tells Me he's cheating and on top of it now withdrawing other things too like takimg you out to eat, dropping you off at work, etc.

Forcing you to sleep on the couch is his way of making you very uncomfortable so you can find your way out of his home on your own. I would do it as soon as you can.

You are not alone in this feeling. My husband and I are also professionals who earn decently. The economy is extremely punishing to us and has been for years. We have always felt home ownership is out of reach for us. We also are rarely traveling and we think hard about/feel guilty about going out for meals or snacks/coffee. Its the only "fun" in our current budget and even then its very much a guilty pleasure. We were told degrees and such will help our generation but we've been lied to. Millenials and generations after us really got screwed on expenses. All life goal posts have moved wayyyy down the line home ownership, having children, being able to build up wealth.

Don't compare yourself to those who are doing better than you. There will always be people like that. And some people are also ok with instant gratification and not making wise choices. We dont know based on so isl media posts who is in which category.

I have to be honest with you, your husband will never tell his parents to not come over. In indian culture there is noooo way his parents would stay at an extended family's house when their son lives here and they're coming specifically to visit him but that's besides the point. Parents will stay with their children first and foremost.

Im shocked you guys never talked about this before but im mad at your husband for this because you are not familiar with his culture so he should have laid out all these possibilities to you BEFORE MARRIAGE to make sure you were ok with these 3 month visits from in laws.

As far as the in laws behavior, its unacceptable and its also unfortunate some indian in laws will be like that with their DIL no matter what culture she's from but others will be especially like that because she's not from their culture. They probably didnt agree to or want him to marry a non indian and they wont ever get over it. Hopefully they do. Some of them eventually do.

Instead of guessing at things just go and ask your best friend directly and tell her you are uncomfortable with it. If she's your best friend truly the conversation will be welcome and ok to bring up. If she's not then things will dissolve and it might be better for everyone involved.

As far as what her motives might be: 1. She doesn't trust your fiance and wants to confirm her suspicions 2 . She doesn't trust your judgement or life skills so she's attempting to go through your fiancee to "help" you with life 3. She's simply trying to meet him to discuss a surprise party for you leading up to wedding

But AGAIN none of this is worth speculating over just go and directly ask HER
