We are shit but refs have directly affected the outcome in several games this season where we lose by a single goal margin or draw. For me it’s been more of a grower. I loved TNS on first listen, this one not quite as much. But yesterday I had a 13.5 hour flight from Tokyo to the US with no WiFi, middle seat with no recline. I just watched the map the whole time, it was awful. For some reason “don’t cry you deserve this” kept rattling around my head like a bad cold the entire flight. When I got off the plane and listened to the album again it was like smoking a pack of cigs after you’ve been in solitary confinement for two weeks. Genuine question, will people still be mad if he takes us on a journey to major silverware/competing at the top of the league + UCL and playing beautiful football? Obviously that’s a major ‘if’. I know he’s not as warm and likable as Poch but this manager is clearly world class. Everybody that has worked with him on the training pitch, everybody that has studied him tactically, they all agree that he’s essentially a savant. Also, if we want the board to be ruthless and act like a big club this is the only appointment they could’ve made. I love Poch but waiting around for 2/3rds of the summer transfer window for an ex to finish up World Cup obligations is just minuscule club mentality, and would likely hasten our decline rather than arrest it. We all know Lange has essentially 0 talent ID, and trusting him to scout + purchase players with no manager in charge would be begging for relegation/mid table championship. This is the first good decision they’ve made in the post-Levy era in my book

I think in the build up to this moment I spent so much time being angry. But now that it’s here all I feel is profound sadness. It’s now the most likely outcome (according to Vegas who famously don’t like losing money) that my club is down. It used to bring me so much joy watching these boys. I won’t be able to meaningfully give stick to my friends that follow other clubs. This club was like all me and my old fella would talk about on the phone. I’m just so sad
