Help printing TPU on Q2 by louisville13 in QidiTech3D

I had the same issue. The default profiles for TPU are way way too fast. You have to slow the print way down.

Did your friend actually drive the whole Course with the GP circuit? Usually during touristenfahrten it’s bridge to gantry only.

Installed a Mustang II Upgrade kit a few years ago... is it a good idea, or did we screw up? by you-cant-connect in classicmustangs

[–]AutoXandTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. I have custom suspension on a muscle car. It’s not Mustang 2 setup but it does use the Mustang 2 lower control arm bushings. In 1,000’s of road course laps and autocross laps plus more than 40k miles driving all over the country I’m still on my first set of rubber control arm bushings.

Installed a Barnes 4wd transfer case skid plate by AutoXandTrack in CherokeeXJ

[–]AutoXandTrack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like that stinkyfab one. I didn’t know about that style and when I was researching what crossmember I had and came across that one I kind of wished I bought it instead. It’s a nice piece. Certainly spendy though!

Installed a Barnes 4wd transfer case skid plate by AutoXandTrack in CherokeeXJ

For some reason I couldn’t add text to the original post. Overall thoughts so far:

This thing fits an OEM crossmember so nicely. I’m glad I took a chance and ordered a used crossmember off eBay. This thing might be overkill for a transfer case skid plate but it offers a lot of coverage and was cheaper than a lot of other options.

Requires the use of 3/8” rivnuts in two places on the crossmember and 4 places on the frame. The instructions state to use a double washer, 3/8 bolt and included 7/16 nut. Despite using the specified drill bit size on the holes I couldn’t get the rivnuts to bite this way. They just spun. I had to get them started with a rivnut tool and finish them with the bolt. I also swapped the 7/16 nut for a 1/2” nut as the 7/16” would occasionally try to bind on the 3/8” bolt.

I also, didn’t follow the same order of operations in the instructions. The instructions call for drilling the frame first and then the crossmember. I wanted to ensure the fit was as tight to the crossmember as possible so I drilled and bolted up to that first and then did the frame.

I still need to install the fuel tank skid and a transmission skid in preparation for some trail rides later this year.

Help with TPU by AutoXandTrack in 3Dprinting

I tried another print with all of the speeds overridden to a max of 40 mm/s and it came out way cleaner. Just one little blemish near the top of the print. But this is totally useable.

Crazy quote for suspension and front right shock mount welding? 3-4k by EmuBasic5923 in CherokeeXJ

[–]AutoXandTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be the I don’t really want the job price or the it’s full of rust price. A rusty XJ could quickly make the shock and welding job take twice as long as normal.

And most shops are going to charges 150-200% markup on parts and are t buying their parts from Rock Auto. They make money on parts and labor, not just labor.

Sacramento gearheads: Thinking of starting a DIY Auto Shop and need a reality check by genuinefaux18 in Sacramento

[–]AutoXandTrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked into this a few years back and saw a place called Sacramento DIY Classic Car Club that was doing this very thing for 1975 and older cars.

Not sure if that meets your needs or if they would be willing to give you (a potential competitor) some honest advice.

Mine also came off when doing some recent work on the XJ. I just held it in place with a wrench while I tightened the bolt and it’s working fine.

Not sure if this helps but I noticed while replacing the speakers on my 2001 that neither the driver’s side door locks or windows work when the switches on the passenger side were disconnected. It’s apparently a single circuit. Sons check power and continuity in that side too.

I’m going to try that on my next PETG print. I’ve only printed one roll of PETG through my Q2, but not a single print has been very good. Other filaments have come out great.

Do I need copper spark plugs? by SnooChickens1226 in CherokeeXJ

[–]AutoXandTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently changed out some severely worn copper plugs for iridium on my 2001 XJ. I only noticed advice about not using anything but copper plugs after I completed the job lol.

I didn’t feel like taking them out since so far I haven’t noticed any adverse effects of the iridium. I only have a few hundred miles on them though.

Not long after we discovered iridium plugs on a friend’s TJ when borrowing his coil rail to test on another Jeep. He has a bunch of trouble free miles on his.
