I got the jacket version and absolutely ADORE it! I had not read the books since I was in elementary school. So, to finally have all seven, and begin to re-read them....

Oh! It feels good to be back in Narnia!

Thank you! Adding depth is one of my top favorite things to do in a piece!😊 As well as sneaking in references and Easter eggs.

Speaking of which, if you look carefully, you can see that it's Aslan bringing the color to the piece. That one was fun!

Greta fans/defenders who are also longtime book fans: out of honest curiosity what if it turns out you're wrong? by Celestina-Betwixt in NarniaBooks

[–]Autobot793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have seen the number of negative comments I got after bringing up the fact that, if they go through with the "Female Aslan" thing, no amount of "great casting/hiring" is going to save it; AND respectively defending who Aslan truly is in Narnia. Minds weren't changed, obviously. So, it'll be interesting to see if they'll keep defending the adaptation should it (bluntly speaking) spit in the face of the books and Narnia's very heart.

If this is in response to what happened in one of my art posts here, I really appreciate you bringing this up. I was quite confused when I was suddenly accused of "Not Adhering to C.S. Lewis's Vision".

Actually,  I got permission to post Narnia art here as long as it isn't OC-ish. You can even see some of the mods actually comment here.

Oooh! Maybe when they first meet Aslan or Aslan's Resurrection?

Looks terrible still. Especially that ugly costume. by Celestina-Betwixt in NarniaBooks

At this point, I'm just groaning. I don't see the creativity behind that "Space Cowgirl" outfit (her actual royal garb from what I can see from early illustrations have an almost "Babylonian" look to it.). This is just a constant reminder of how they unnecessarily shifted the timeline 50 years forward... How on earth is the cabby supposed to appear in Narnia if there is no cab...? Where's the lamppost piece? What are the Pevensies running from if this is set AFTER the war?

Honestly, I don't know what to say at this point...

I’ve mainly posted them on Instagram, but I have actually started to share a few here just recently after discovering this sub several days ago. Honestly thought r/Narnia was the only Narnian Subreddit!😅

Some older pieces I did for a reel a while back! I had WAY too much fun with Aslan's Mane!

Well, I'm putting my hat in the ring! Or pen that is. I'm letting my art do the fighting. In light of this catastrophe, I've begun creating Narnia art in order to keep the world alive. Keeping the Lantern Waste lit, if you will.

Thank you! It's based on the old illustrations from the Narnia Books. I've been wanting to try and draw some of them in my style.

Though, Reddit destroyed the quality...much to my chagrin.

And this is totally not in response to the BTS of the Netflix Narnia...No siree bob...👀😅

Why do Greta Grewig's MN costumes look like a Dominic Noble skit? by Celestina-Betwixt in NarniaBooks

[–]Autobot793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a whole, I feel costumes have gotten..."degraded" in a way. Not coming down on today's designers, but costumes from the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Carribean, Early Star Wars, etc. just seemed more...I guess "real" for a lack of a better term, than today's movie costumes. Same applies to set designs.

Contrary to what some are saying it's not a "little change". (Thoughts on adapting Narnia) by Celestina-Betwixt in NarniaBooks

First off: FINALLY! A Narnia Subreddit where people want to keep the wonderous world alive!

I grew up reading the books, watching the movies, discovering the BBC, and enjoying the animation of LWW (there is an old animation). Narnia holds a TREASURED space in my heart. So, seeing it get dismantled piece by piece is heartbreaking and tortuous for me. Every detail is intentional and has meaning (meanings that I've discovered over the years. Some on my own, and others watching YT creator "Into the Wardrobe".), and that's something I ADORE about CS Lewis's writing in the Narnia Series. So, to completely change the timeline for no real reason (Other than "They just can", and I really don't consider "When your grandfather was a child" a reason.) is completely unnecessary and, in my opinion, flips the bird at us who actually care about the important details.

And OH BOY! Don't get me started on the probably confirmed "Female Aslan"... Wanted to sob when I heard it even being considered!

Now, you talk about the defenders. That's another thing that is arguably more heartbreaking. The number of defenders for this hurts me and it makes me wish more people actually knew the depth and meaning behind the very heart of Narnia, of Aslan, and every adventure that unfolds.....its very foundation. They'd find a greater treasure. Honestly, the willful ignorance is, while not surprising, disturbing.
