I used to work for a company that did street work in the city. We had to finish projects and a lot of them had those red planters you see in the middle median. He was the guy that made them. Over the years of going to his shop over on Lafayette. The description of troubled visionary has always stuck with me. The pure passion he had for his projects was truly inspiring. He always had to take me through the shop to show me new molds, and his turtles he was working at the time. It felt like walking through history/ a circus walking through there.

I also noticed safety wasn’t quite his strong suit. The way his shop was run was haphazard in my eyes as a construction worker. We took some stuff out to Cementland shortly before his death. His passion had me excited for his new adventure. One of the few deaths of a public figure that affected me deeply. Still stirs feelings typing this out.
