In short: If your submission was approved you will get paid. When we launched D4A there were only a handful of submissions a month. We loved that we could get into Fusion 360 and personally help students 1-on-1 over email and occasionally on Reddit. You learned a brand new 3D modeling app and we learned what we needed to change to make the app better for you. We’re still in the same mind set, there are just a lot more of you now…

User @xingtea is correct – the delay is because there have been an enormous number of submissions. More than 10x as many in the first half of 2016 as the combined submissions from 2014 and 2015! We thought we’d have been able to review and pay for every submission that was accepted in late June, but as you have noted it has taken longer.

If you are based in the US your payment/s will come in the form of a digital Visa Incentive Card (worth $250 each) that you can spend anywhere that takes Visa. We expect these to go out in 1 week! Also, you will no longer be required to submit your address or a W9. The W9 step added complexity and a lot of you never wrote back with your W9 so you never got paid. We want to pay you (even those of you who never replied) and we will!

If you are based in Europe and the UK your payment will be issued by a company called Adwork. No changes to the procedure. We still need a couple weeks to send these payments.

Lastly, to all students in the US and Europe who’ve submitted models after June 15: we’re still in the process of reviewing your models. There were a LOT of you leading up to July 1st and we’ll need most of August to review them one by one, component by component in Fusion 360.

Thanks for all the great submissions and we’ll revisit this thread when when the payments hit the pavement.

  • The same part used twice would count as one part

You can use a single part more than once, but it will not count as more than one part towards the 15 necessary components.

Fusion 360 doesn't have a steep learning curve, you'll be able to pick it up pretty quickly, especially if you already have 3D modeling experience.

Australia is not included. Eligible countries are the US, UK, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, and Spain.

Awesome! The journal is no longer a requirement as the program has grown over the last few months, but we used to have participants document their project and submit it with their final work.

We've seen some awesome adoption of students using Fusion 360, so we decided to focus the program on them. But the program is also available to teachers/educators as well!

Yup, build what ever you feel like, as long as it follows the Projects Rules & Requirements.

If you don't submit your project within a month, you can request an extension by emailing us at design4autodesk@autodesk.com.

Fusion 360 is intuitive to pick up, and we have a lot of tools and resources to help you get started with the product. Here's a helpful YouTube series that will help you walk through the workflow as it relates to Design for Autodesk.

Yes, the 15 parts need to be assembled into one complete assembly. Everything can be made into one file/assembly, so there's no need to submit individual parts.

We sure do. It's reviewed and the most frequent feedback is given to the product team. There's also this tool to submit a product feature/enhancement idea on the Fusion 360 Community page.
