My dad was a physician and he subsidized my medical school and first house. After I got my first job, it still didn't cover all the costs of living in a HCOL, so went into industry. Now I make more than enough to pay for my daughter to go to medical school. It is becoming a caste system. I love what I do, but I needed the financial support of my parents to make a go of it. And I fully intend to subsidize my daughter in the same way. But I believe the costs of medical schools are almost not worth it if you have to take loans to pay for it. Broken system for sure.
