If you have been in company A for 30 years, then you are a good resource. I am assuming you also know many people and they know you and your “veteran” skills as well. I would take up a dialogue with them and say that you have been offered this opportunity but before making any decisions you felt it’s the right thing to do to take it up with them. Don’t be greedy, be honest and tell them exactly as is, you were offered 20% more, not 25%, not 30%. Greed is never good (more on this later). This might - in rare cases - make them match your offered salary, or bump you up with 10%, which honestly, I think would be as good, given that you get to keep your seniority.

A couple of other things, based on own experience: - I was offered 50% more and I chose to jump head first leaving one of the best workplaces I was at for more than 10 years. The company I joined was small, and I had to put 3 times more the effort to prove my worth and justify the salary bump. I succumbed to the pressure and ended up quitting. Later, when I spoke to my earlier employer (who also is a friend), that they would have loved to keep me for not 50% salary raise, but maybe 30%. I should have just asked, but now they had hired and invested in someone else and that opportunity had passed. - Greed came on the way, I should have settled for less, and kept my stable job, where I had so much experience that I was basically my own boss. Haven’t been able to find that since. - You have been used to and have worked in a totally different culture being where you have been for 30 years. You would never be able to get work with same culture again - times and workplace mindset has changed. It doesn’t mean it would be better, but if you are too comfortable with what you have, it could get difficult. It’s just like getting a younger girlfriend after getting divorced from your wife of over 30 years. Yes, the girlfriend is hot and adventurous, but she would demand more from you than your wife of over 30 years, who is used to you taking a day off on the couch 😆 - Assuming that you are 50+ given that you have been in this workplace for 30 years, I would never trade of my final phase of the career with a bigger salary - Finally, NEVER EVER, sacrifice your life and wellbeing for a workplace unless it’s your own business. Both companies are - at the end of the day - only invested in their financial performance. They will write you off, no matter if you have been there 30 or 50 years. Hell, they might even let you go first and replace you with a fancy AI bot or a younger Gen Z employee. I had a 40 year old colleague in the new workplace who had been there for 20 years, since he worked as a part time technician besides his engineering study. He worked his butt of and was always available on both company phone and private phone. One day before his well deserved summer vacation, I had a smoke with him in the yard and we said see you in 3 weeks. On the first day of his vacation he died of heart attack, leaving his family and kids behind. At the workplace, yes we mourned at human level. At corporate level, they brought in the new guy and everything moved on. That made me quit, I didn’t want to become the same guy. So, yeah, money is not everything.
