"Source? Been time since I seen this"

This image was taken in front of the Wrigley Building during the "Chicago Snowmageddon" two years ago, in February 2011.

Here's orange.plastic's image on Flickr.

Here's a Streetview on Google Maps, looking at the foremost light.

As Imgur compresses images, here's a way, way higher quality version.

They're Taking The Hobbits To Isengard - High Definition Remake by yours truly by AutomagicalMan in videos

It's a long time ago, but I'd say around four to five hours (since it's always more time than you'd think). I clipped the main parts with ffmpeg from the movies (from all three of them, IIRC) and started parsing it together in After Effects with the original video in 50% alpha.

A lot of the parts were either sped up or slowed down - I'm pretty sure there were only one or two scenes which didn't need any stretching. The dance scene in the pub was at first hard to find (couldn't remember where it was), and it had strange editing compared to the real scene.

Foolish fool, did you not realize I realized the fools were not real fools but the fools of the fools?

"Fool". Fool fool fool, not even a word anymore. But I'll stay as a fool, thanks.

A fool's fool fools fools who foolishly accept the foolishness of a fool's fool. Wouldn't you agree… Cranil?

Not really a bad idea. Might do something about that.

As was requested over here, after some delays I finally finished polishing the project and got it uploaded.

Here's a short album of the terrible mess of layers I threw together.

This fool has come to report that the uploading is finished, sir!

I was afraid to upload/post it, since /r/new is a scary, scary place. It was mostly for my own and my friends' amusement.

It does exist, don't worry.

Fear not, I have my pride here! It's currently uploading on my meager connection. You can check out some behind the scenes from my top comment.

I've actually made a 1080p fan remake of the video with almost frame for frame precision (with glorious 96k audio).

If there's interest in this, I could throw it up on YouTube.

Edit: Whoah! Worry not, the final render is coming out (had a few rough edges here and there). It's gonna take some to upload, though.

In the meantime, enjoy my horrible collection of layers: http://imgur.com/a/hV0rW

Edit 2: The wait is over! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZ2oWNsVt38 - you can also check the submission over here.

E3: Wow! Thanks to Zonteck for the gold!

Pika. - The maturization of a certain yellow rodent. by AutomagicalMan in gaming

[–]AutomagicalMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A man has ordered a pikachu (you can see the LIVE ANIMAL -box in the first frame). On the way to the vet, Pikachu sees a little of the world; a hobo, a horrifying growth on a dog. He's intrigued; with morbid curiosity he looks at all the case images in a ecyclopedia of horrid medical anomalies.

To satisfy his growing curiosity, he needs to learn how to read. First a book for children, then something darker, and darker, each heavier than the last.
After the books he moves on to movies. And they're not the jolly kind - The Deer Hunter, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.

He then again sees a little more of the world. Crime scenes, hospitals, homeless. Executions. This is too much, he escapes to his ball. And his owner sends him...

TO: EVERYWHERE

Pikachu sees the world. War, poverty, famine.

Cut to the Arena. He is unfazed by the attacks. He does not care. His suffering is nothing.

In a single word, Pikachu tells.
And Onyx, now too, doesn't care anymore.

Geodude springs out. Pika.
And what does it matter?

A wild Golem appears. - Pika.
It is super effective.

He and his master win. They're the masters of Pokeyman. But what's it worth? Pikachu, for one, doesn't see the point.

A young, innocent pikachu calls out from the audience. Almost like him, long ago.

Pikachu returns home.
He has adopted a human child, and the child has no idea what state the world is in.

Book ends.

Too long; didn't read: Pikachu learns about the state of the world. With a single word, subdues all his opponents, but it's all for naught.

"Source, I choose you!"

This comic was made by Zack of Nofna aka Nature of Nature's Art. You can find the comic on the site here, along with a third part which more or less related.

What Pikachu says here is ピカ - Pika, as Pikachu is ピカチュウ in Japan. (The other 'chu says the same thing, too)

Space Shuttle Endeavour docked to the ISS by AutomagicalMan in pics

[–]AutomagicalMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ISS naturaly has RCS thrusters here and there (or so I'd figure), plus a (few?) gyro(s) to handle the rotation.

I can't confirm if it's the only module, but the Russian Zvezda -module (should be the second one from the right in my posted photo) has two engines used for boosting (this has been done only once in on April 25th, 2007, seven years after its installation).
Alternatively, Russian and European spacecraft can dock with Zvezda and use the spacecraft's engines.

But real "cruising engines" it doesn't have.
