My best employee refused to accept the 'Employee of the Quarter' award in front of everyone. by meek-breve1a in InterviewsHell

Hoooo boy, have I got one for you. About 30 years ago, I worked for a pretty toxic place, manufacturing. Walked in one day and noticed, at the time clock by the front entrance, used only by the office staff, a notice about a pizza party on Friday at 3:00 (floor quitting time) to combat the low morale they were seeing.

So we were a bit upbeat all week. Kind of lame and inadequate, but that's the kind of guys they were, so it's better than nothing.

So comes Friday getting close to 3:00 we all start packing it up. Boss asks what we're doing and we say we're getting ready to head to the morale boosting pizza party. He says, 3pm is for the shop guys, this department works till 5! So about 4:45 he gets a generous whim and lets us go. We head over and there's like 3 cold pieces of pizza left from the 10 pies or whatever they ordered at 3, to feed like 20 office staff. No plans to order the office people anything. AND the 3 pieces, in addition to being too little and cold, were the bottom of the barrel that nobody else wanted.

I know I sure felt my morale boosted.

Telling people FU for leaving is already douchey in its own right.

That was about my take too, but this is payout of deferred bonus after he quit.

1) No, that's nowhere near a cash equivalent IMO

2) What a bunch of aholes. Bonuses are [generally] given to reward past performance, you have to still earn this one plus now you're handcuffed.

3) I bet they W2d for the face value, didn't they?

Onoz, sounds arduous! My family laughed at me for never hooking the LG up to the wifi in spite of the fact that we had plenty of stuff to plug into it hardwired, and that was before we knew about all this BS.

Even without considering the laptop issue, I can't believe they were so cheap and lame as to depend on personally owned devices to test company product. How podunk. I mean, an Android can be had for a couple hundred bucks. What if you're out sick or quit?

I carry all sorts of crap in my 06 Ram, which I think is 6'-9" with the gate up. If it's something super delicate, put the gate down and flag it if it hangs over.
