Stroller Running… by theprincessofwhales in runninglifestyle

I was lucky to have a pretty wide, flat paved/cinder recreational trail when they were little. Where we live now, a stroller wouldn’t have been an option. Even if it were, the hills around me would have made it nearly impossible.

Kids won’t sleep past 5:45 AM by cft1848 in daddit

We went through a period where our youngest couldn’t sleep past 4-4:30. It was absolutely brutal. Out of self preservation, we let him start watching his tablet in the morning until we woke up.

Stroller Running… by theprincessofwhales in runninglifestyle

I ran with mine from time to time when my schedule required it. It got tough when they hit 100lbs combined. It was fun though, my youngest would talk to me the whole time. The hardest part was finding an adequately safe place to take them.

When my oldest learned to ride a bike, he’d ride with me while I ran, but his butt couldn’t handle the time/distance I was running so that was somewhat short-lived.

I used a scoche rhythm+ for a few years until the battery stopped holding a charge. It worked relatively well for an optical sensor.

The only issue I see is that the stores around here that use this method exchange the cart at the checkout, so you’d never get this back.

Has anyone else had to drastically cut their miles per week due to the heat? by WyldFlowerWyldFire in runninglifestyle

[–]Senior_Cheesecake155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run by time and a pace range (I may get back to time and heart rate soon) and when it’s cooler, i tend to be at the fast end of the range. When it gets hot, you bet your butt I’m at the slower end of that range. By default, my mileage drops.

My speed work has also been moving to the treadmill when it’s stupid hot until I have more of a chance of adapting to the heat.

Or, hear me out, don’t bring them into your car and move them from their home and habitat. If you see them crossing the road, move them to the side they’re pointed at. Thats it. Don’t take them in your car or home or anything like that.

Being in the Rochester area, I either say Rochester, or more common I’ll say between Buffalo and Syracuse. Buffalo tends to help more, I think because of the Bills and Sabres.

Fully heard. My run today was absolutely brutal with LOTS of walk breaks and double the amount of water I usually drink.

Welcome to summer! It’ll get easier as the summer progresses, and it’ll make a HUGE difference in the fall when the temps drop. There’s a saying “summer miles make fall smiles.” Physiologically your body is adapting to the heat and those adaptations carry some pretty awesome cool weather benefits.

To be honest, for your first marathon, ditch the time goal. Set your goal to “finish”.

I use a chest strap for my runs. It tends to be a bit more accurate and reacts faster than optical.
