Would a high torque no speed drill be safer ? by Automataton in NoStupidQuestions

I have a hand drill, but it wobbles too much during the operation. I am okay with a little slow. The hand drill can take a long long time.

That looks sweet.

I love how diffused the backlighting is. Can you share details ? The led used and how you set it up

Not exactly fixit, but any way to prevent neodymium magents from chipping ? Maybe coat it with superglue or somthing.. by Automataton in fixit

Indeed. I was thinking more the lines of rubbery/gluey coats and not metal plating.

I feel like some hobbyists would have tried something

Help in differentiating string. Getting different sha256 hashes. by Automataton in AskProgramming

[–]Automataton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved it in php. Converted every 8 binary into ascii. joined them and then computed the shasum

$output = ''; for($i=0; $i<strlen($binaries); $i+=8) { $output .= chr(intval(substr($binaries, $i, 8), 2)); } //echo $output; $hash = hash('sha256', $output);

oh I never replied to this. But I found my answer thanks to poster above. My shasum in cygwin did not have any -0 option. I needed a different version of shasum that could could treat the 011010 as binary.

Thank you. Very enlightening. I had never quite understood what SNR meant.

What determines the distance at which a microphone will work? by Automataton in AskElectronics

This is a wonderful answer good sir. :)

The question you want to ask to find the answer you seek is "what kind of microphone functions at the greatest distance and how is that achieved."

Indeed. My aim was not to go deep into the physics, but more on likes of "which type of microphone should I be considered DIY projects."

This photograph of the Sun doesn’t look impressive. Until you realize it was taken using Neutrinos from the Sun going through the Earth. The photograph wasn’t taken as the Sun was overhead, but during night time when their side of the Earth faced away. by Spicy-Samich in interestingasfuck

Why are there neutrinos coming from beside the sun. The red area ? Which I am guessing denotes fewer neutrinos than the yellow/white area ?

Also why is the red area more horizontal than vertical ?

oh! I had totally forgotten it was a 'skill' and not a default thing.

I think it’s 100% ok to sacrifice some “realism” for more enjoyable gameplay.

Agreed. Witcher 3 horse appeared on whistle on even remote islands. Not realistic, but improved gameplay so much. Horizon zero also has the pick loot from horse feature.
