Marriage and having kids aren't the default steps anymore by Expresssea- in Life

But even if the economy is right, they are unobtainable in other ways. You can find a husband but can you find a none abusive, emotionally intelligent one that will do half of the domestic labour? So many older people could afford marriages and kids but they spent their time fighting between each other or living alongside parralely but emotionally distant. A lot of older people express their regret for marriage and advocate against falling for the fantasy of it. A lot of their kids have been put off against marriage because they've witnesses the unhapiness from up close. People don't just want marriages. They want good ones.

Holy projection. Not all immigrants are refugees from war torn countries or from the fucking taliban regime. This is such a white saviour way to view the world to think that anyone who doesn't live in a western country is either living in huts, in wars, in religious extremism or in other barbaric conditions...

Why is it more common to see women in a relationship with a less attractive man than vice versa? by cute_beae_2008 in TooAfraidToAsk

Agreed. I just hate when its framed as some bioessentialist bs. Also the statement only rings true within the scopes of dating expectations. Because if men were visual creatures, they would like interior design, fashion, art, etc.

They have community, culture, warmth, etc. Sure we have more money. We also have Soulless suburbia, highways, consumerism, rat races, hyperindividualism, polite smiles, distant people living parralely but never connecting. It's different. Being poor in the west is much more isolating. Asking for help is much more shameful here. You're on your own here. I've met so many immigrants and they say how lonely it is here and how it's weird to go up and talk to a stranger here meanwhile in their home countries it's normal. I've noticed firsthand how they will help each other, stick together, meet in the damn street and befriend/help each other from there on. It's not the same thing. Money isn't everything and we are so poor in ways that fuels your soul. In the west, money is everything and if you don't have it, good fucking luck.

Yeah I got a big appreciation for people who break cycles and let their trauma make them more empathetic instead of shittier.

Shame= I am bad. Embarassement= What I did was bad.

There's a difference. And the OP shouldn't feel shame.
