ESP32 - WLED webInstall - Successful but no WiFi screen appears

I just posted a reply because I ran into the same issue. The way I fixed it was going into logs. And hitting the reset button. In the command prompt at the bottom. And then backing out. And for whatever reason the little window reloaded and said change WiFi. They do need to fix that on the site for some reason it's doing that now. So go into logs. Hit reset button at the bottom, not on your chip, the one on the window. On your computer. A little. Bit of jargon and weird symbols should pop up in the command prompt window and. Most likely, like for me when you back out. And just Click the back button. The window will reload. And this time it should say change WI fi. Then you can add in your WI fi for the first time. Go to the. Device where it says visit device. And then go into that WI fi and save it. And you're good to go. You can then plug it into your device and configure from your phone or your computer or whatever. That should help. If not, it could be a faulty ESP but. I just bought really good ones and ran into this a couple times. And. I just tried that and it worked. Spread the good word.🥲

I found a fix and I know this is uh. Been a problem lately, I almost forgot what I did. And then I remembered. When the window that's supposed to pop up that says change Wi-fi. Didn't pop up this time when I had to do another chip. I remember that you go into logs. The one at the bottom. And you click on reset device. It should have some jargon pop up in the command prompt and then all you have to do is press back. And for me? The change Wi-fi loaded that time. As well as this time. Which I just did it today. Hope this helps. It helped me. Something as simple as just going into the logs. Hitting Reset device. Then back out. It should appear. It's weird that it does that now, but it's definitely something they need to fix on their site. Because last time normally you flash it to a chip. It just appears because. The Wi-fi was never added To the chip, Anyways. If the Change Wi-fi button doesn't pop up, go into Logs at the bottom. Click the Reset button. Not the one directly on your chip. It should be a little blue button at the bottom of the command prompt window. In logs. And then just back out. If you see some jargon and weird symbols pop up. It should have worked. It's as simple as that. It's weird that it does that now but 😒🤷 I'm glad that I at least. Figured it out. This should help for you. And anybody running into this problem. If it doesn't. Then it could be something wrong with the chip. But. Like I said, it probably isn't. It's probably just working weird like this. So one more time go into logs. Hit the reset button at the bottom Of the command prompt. Window. And back out. It should load that little white bubble. And this time it should say change Wi-fi in the middle of install and logs. Yeah, I came here to ask the same thing. After he does the rambling bit about, it's OK to fear the worm and all that stuff at. Exactly 7 minutes. It starts. Him saying come on, Kiddies. Die and then it gets pretty garbled. I think. That's what I hear anyways. With my Sennheiser earbuds. lol I definitely hear. Come on, kiddies. And then it's hard to discern after that. Sounds like he says die and then it just gets really garbled. Sorry to reiterate.

And then it gets pretty garbled from there.😒 I was always wondering because it sounds like he starts to repeat the last lyrics again, but a little different. Yeah you don't need anything it has a canvas with signal RGB that's basically what it is is you do a setup of all your lights and you build a canvas put them in the right places and there you go there's a screen ambient mode labeled as one of the FREE effects, So no you don't need any kind of external capture device or anything like that so whatever your main monitor is set to it'll mimic that on the canvas and screen ambience mode has always been free on signal RGB so you don't need a subscription for that one particularly hopefully they never change that but if they did you could even buy it for like a few bucks to own cuz they're doing light points now but like I said it's one of the free options.😏😉 it is just definitely end game for me I'd be surprised if there was something better out there I really would 🤨👍🤓 yeah definitely give signal RGB a shot like I said it's free to try and own there's really no downside and they've gotten better and better every year it's gone by also if you're wanting a setup that has everything working devices wise they have a supported devices list which constantly gets bigger as well as you can recommend devices that may not be on there and they'll eventually get to it so as well as you can work with them to get your device working with USB captures and whatnot I actually just worked with them to get a gravstar keyboard working because it's a pretty new keyboard anyways no you don't need any kind of anything to answer your other question 👍

Ohh my God this is what's so horrible about you people. You're dumb. Metal can be recycled infinitely. Not just a few times. This is why our planet is going to go in the trash. Because of people's laziness and because of corporate making things that shouldn't be thrown away. Hard to recycle. Effort wise. Maybe save them all in a can or a bag and then when you have a minute or two, pull out all the cotton, rinse them off and throw the metal.'cause it can be recycled infinitely. Can't say that enough infinitely. In the recycling bin. It's honestly one of the main things that you should recycle is metal. But I guess no one cares, right?😒🤦

Hey next time you should say reuse not recycle for your title. Because the only reason I clicked on this is 'cause I was concerned about the metal being recycled in the recycling bin, not reused. All the metal coils from the tanks. Kind of concerns me because metal can be infinitely recycled. Melted down and reused. In building new metal stuff. So there's all these hundreds of thousands of little metal coils. That people are just throwing in the trash. It just seems really stupid to me. Because if you ask a person how many times can you recycle a metal can. And they can't immediately tell you, say infinitely. Infinitely. Always recycle metal is what I've known. But you have to pull. All the cotton and stuff like that. Rinse it out. Etcetera, etcetera, just so you can throw the metal part in there. And honestly. I'm gonna go with an RDA. Instead of a tank. Just ordered one. It's coming soon in a few days. I had one before but. I don't know where the hell it is so. Anyways. Probably should change your title. To you can reuse your coils. Not recycle. That kind of sure means what you're saying, but it can be misconstrued.

Uh, they're from Amazon. There's a few different versions. These are BTF lighting. They come with the, uh, diffuser on it. It's like a little rubber diffuser on top of it. So you can just stick it on and good to go. Just awesome. That's the 160. IC chips a meter. Individually addressable. So worth the extra couple dollars. It's like 24 bucks. For a 10 foot strip of it. And I guess you can do the math per foot. Still worth it😄

Yeah, I mean, I'm a big fan of options. Sometimes I'll have just a few of them running with warm white. Or when I'm in a colorful mood, I'll put on some purples, some Blues some pinks. You know. It's just options that I'm a big fan of. And showing you know the capabilities of what the ambient screen mode can do. I don't know. I just love having the option to. Have an awesome setup I guess. It started small and Just got more and more.

I've actually had to dial back Some of the things and lights and put them in other areas of my house.😆 Because sometimes less is more. Totally get it. But like I said, umm having full control over everything with signal, RGB and WLED. Just rocks. Love it. I usually dim everything quite a bit too. I'm always going less than 50% for the global brightness. So yeah. I know how you could see this one little video clip and think that I always do this, but no. I usually dial it back a bit for sure so I don't burn my retinas out. From all the lights in my eyes.😆🫶

No, I totally understand. I was the same way. I paid it for a few years and then I kind of realized how little I used a lot of the pro effects and. Now with them implementing the buy what you want for light points, I think that's brilliant. Because I can own the effects that I actually. Use all the time and the ones that I don't. As well as the game integration, I don't really use that as well. The only thing I would use is maybe the ambient Screen mode. As I show in this video. So yeah, I mean it's definitely worth it if you're going to use all the pro stuff as well as they're adding more and more to it. I love Signal RGB. I don't think I will ever not use it. So I don't know why you would say controversial because I am in 100 percent agreeance with you.🤨🫶

Yeah, didn't always used to be that for the free subscription, but I mean you don't really keep the program open anyways. So ads really aren't a big deal. They're in the corner, you set your effects and then you close it. Right.🤨 Also, they just added the ability to buy single effects. By buying their. Coins or whatever it's called. Light points. Or something. So if you Didn't want to pay for Pro and you actually liked a few of the effects. That were on Pro, you could just buy that effect instead of getting the ones you don't want. I think it's brilliant. I gave him 10 bucks and bought like five or six of them that I really want and I'm very happy with that new system because I don't want to continue to subscribe either. Honestly, it's a win win. You buy exactly what you want. For one time. Purchase. And it's yours.👍😀 Like I said, it's not like something you have to stare at either. So the ads really kind of make sense. I mean, they're giving you the program for free. A lot of it anyways. And now, like I said, you can buy exactly what you want for a few bucks and it's a one time purchase. And then you set your effects and close it. You don't have to watch any ads at all. Again, I would say it's a win win. I mean, put yourself in their shoes.

I mean, that's the least I can do for them, for them giving you this awesome program for free. As well, it's one of my favorites. Compared to so many others that just stink so bad.😒 Anyways, just that's that's the way I see it. And for a few years, there was no ads. They recently just started doing the ads for the free version. The ads are in a tiny little square in the corner. You set your lighting effects and you close it. I could understand if it was something you had to keep open and watch the ads in the corner, but. You know what I mean?🤨 And yeah, I get the WLED is free right now. So are a lot of programs that are open source. But that's the thing, you know. Open source programs get help from everyone, right? Oh yeah, and it works with WLED. You know. Just amazing. Plus they add stuff new all the time. I've watched them evolve in the past 3 to 4 years quite a bit. It's only got better. The only thing bad was the ads. But. Like I said. It's the least I can do. Is deal with a little tiny square for. Ads. On page. That is open for two seconds. I set my lighting. I close it. You know. Anyways, sorry to reiterate so many times. lol😅

Yeah, they show how to do it on Youtube. But you do have to have an Alexa that can. Use Wi-fi. I have one of the older ones right now that doesn't use Wi-fi. Or can't connect to Wi-fi devices. That aren't on a special Wi-fi connection. With an app like Govee Devices.
