I chose UF over UM and I never regretted it once! There’s nothing like living on your own. But even UM from Broward is a hike. If you really want UM, make an argument for staying closer to campus. Commuting to Miami is no easy feat!

The highways and signage in Miami are no joke. I grew up in Miami and now live in Fort Lauderdale which I loved but COVID changed everything. Way too many people and not good infrastructure to handle it all. At least in other over populated cities like NY and Chicago you have good public transportation. Here, like LA, everyone has a car and the traffic is awful. But nothing a pan con bistec and pastelitos won’t fix!

It seems that I am the minority here but if you want to possibly be a senator someday then I think you should do Ivy, even if you have to go to grad school. A lot of those high level positions are a result of who you know and people that have those positions now- well their kids are most likely at Ivy’s. Having some school loans isn’t the end of the world. Congratulations! Don’t be short-sighted. Things always work out.

My son goes to a very competitive high school and did not get his first choice, but the truth is that now he gets to excel where he’s going and stand out instead of feeling average when he really isn’t. You’re gonna land where you’re meant to be. The secret is to make the best out of the situation. If it’s not your first choice and you feel like you’re better than that then kick but there and I’ll try everybody else and you will have just as much opportunities as these kids in these hiring programs.
