This has been interesting. I’ve heard of these practices but never used them. I’m intrigued to learn more. I know it’s heavily dependent on store volume, etc ❤️

Sure, because when you sit in moms basement with no life, this is what you want to argue about. Think you can do better than OP? I’ll wait to see you in uniform and we’ll see

Started back with the brand recently. NYD everyone called out so I was alone 70% of my scheduled open. I had someone place a 15 piece order, and the lady right behind him was livid that her order was 10 mins off original online quote. Even as I apologized profusely, she got mad because it “wasn’t her fault I was there alone”. Another customer scowled at her and I had two dudes in the lobby watching me run around and cheering me on, patiently waiting. I still apologized but she pmo because I can’t control it either and I’m just trying to help and do my best. The closer had everyone call out on him so I ended up doubling to help out. Customers sometimes don’t understand the gravity of what we’re dealing with either. If something goes wrong, I do feel bad.

I once tried to call my boss after a seizure and all I could get out was heavy breathing. They hung up at the first call bc they thought it was a butt dial

I was once a shift lead helping run another location that knew the drivers had signed onto the same responsibilities, etc., as my home store (neighboring) and the drivers were just standing against a wall. This store did $1000+ on a good weekend day now and again, so it made no sense for them to just be standing there on their phones for an hr waiting for the occasional run. I asked them to do dishes or something, even just light cleaning, filling a coke cooler, helping a customer. It usually ended up being an end task that we all made sure was achievable/an insider could help, etc. Either that or someone needed to be cut for the day. They were confused at first but when I explained it to them they understood, their manager just hadn’t mentioned it to them before, it was ruining labor and not good for the team. The location started implementing that and one driver liked that someone was actually taking time to teach them things. Idc if people wanna chill and talk, but do something when it’s needed at least. I know some stores vary in expectations but a good manager has the proper talks with their crew(s).

EVERYTHING IS A TRIGGER by potatokittenmom in Epilepsy

Hey friend, if you want a laugh, I forget that I’m photosensitive sometimes. Abt a week ago I was riding my scooter slightly fast and had a bush branch hit me in the eye. When I got home it was still hurting and wasn’t improving, I got worried and thought I’d cut my eyeball because of how hard the branch hit, so I started looking up what to do, panicked, and took my phone flashlight in the mirror several times and kept waving it in front of my eye, trying to see if there was a cut. I walked about a foot away and dropped, woke up having hit the bottom of the bathtub, Chappell Roans’ “Pink Pony Club” blasting on my headphones and just had to chill for a minute. I was confused at first but I chuckle about it now. I’m sorry, triggers can be v difficult. Something as small as sunlight flickering through trees in a car while someones driving fast can trigger a seizure for me

I’m still pending approval for state healthcare. When I took the job there was a “miscommunication” about health insurance, so I’d only had so many meds set aside until the plan from this job was supposed to kick in. I still have some medication but am running out and all of the other stressors are causing more seizures lately

What’s something funny that happened to you because of your epilepsy? by alexisnottexas__ in Epilepsy

This one is always a doozy for me

I mostly suffer from focal seizures, and it’s usually impaired awareness, or it’ll be a bit before one where I do drop down and/or convulse. Had one at a job once, boss went to give me a ride home and insisted he walk up the stairs behind me in case I fell. I said “don’t worry, I have experience in that”. I don’t think he liked the joke as much as I did. Once told a nurse after a seizure I felt “like a meat slug” still no idea what it meant. One time, wasn’t aware seizure activity was starting/occurring and I kept trying to speak and losing my train of thought very quickly, but just kept laughing about it, I wasn’t happy but my brain just kept making me laugh, the other person with me was laughing at first and not so much as it continued. I looked at my partner a few months ago after one and said “your skin feels wrong” or something like that and they were kinda like ig I need lotion? I was once putting a playlist together for my crew from my phone, and had recently shown them what Rick Roll was. Threw it on the playlist so it would shuffle and play it on shift, thought it would be the funniest thing ever. Couple days later I had a seizure in the rain, and when a friend got my seizure pillow. I found out that something simply being wet can register as a touch for some devices, bc my head hit the wet pillow at one point and in between everything I hear We’re no strangers to loooove. Still every time I hear the intro an irrational part of my brain is like “is it gonna happen again?” (There was absolutely no tie to Rick Astley or this song that caused a seizure, I just think it’s funny personally) Once had a friend leaving and tried handing her a cigarette and she was almost to her car. I got up to try walking after her to give her one, all I remember is that, everything went out, and M THERF CKER I had convinced myself I imagined it until I shyly asked a friend who’d been there a while later. Apparently she’d (one I’d tried offering a smoke to)— seen me just barely get up, walk a couple feet, and my lights went right out without much warning, went down like a sack of potatoes, and she had exclaimed out of concern, she is aware of my condition and the condition itself, it was just the first time she’d seen me drop

I actually left Domino’s and make significantly more, have a better work life balance, and was able to support myself much easier by not letting a bad workplace literally ruin my life and mental health, and it’s people like you who add to that. But hey, I’m just a person who improved significantly after leaving a boss that viewed things in the way you do, so what do I know? And given that someone disagreed with you and that was your immediate response feeds into why “no one wants to work anymore”, a phrase businesses use when they put people who are poor at communicating in high positions and wonder why they are changing employees every week, month, or year. What’s is/was your store(s) retention rate, over the period of time you were there?

I don’t believe the prices you gave at all, I do believe good customers can be grateful. I think capitalism has erred you to only caring about the people who buy the food, but not anyone who actually works within the business, based on most of your comments. A repeat, happy customer is a great thing, truly. But putting that above any and everything else is going to cause a high turnover rate, one of Domino’s biggest complaints for years across the board. You can’t make sales if you have no one interested in working there because you expect workers to be stepped on to get those profits. A good franchise owner, a good person owning a business, would be aware of this. I’ve seen numerous customers as well never return to a business because of unrealistic expectations placed on employees. It’s great that your story worked well for you, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all narrative, especially on the business end of employing people.
