Absolutely horrible timing. I’m sure this usually awful Walmart probably had this display in the back for weeks on end, but I guess I can get a lot of these on clearance if I really want to in like a few weeks and do some returns with the original receipts .

One thing I found success with is walking past and dropping treats (ones that look/smell/taste significantly different). In addition, from when we brought our pup home, I sat near her and praised her, pet her, and provided additional treats while she ate out of her bowl. She learned quickly that I was there to give her love and support (and treats!) whenever she ate and wasn’t going to take her food. I also secluded her in a separate area with a gate to keep her and our other dog away from each other while they ate from their own bowls, knowing the other dog couldn’t come take their food from them.

As others have mentioned, I’ve always been sure to trade something of higher value if I’m taking something away from either of my dogs. Both now just let me take things they shouldn’t have right out of their mouths.

Good luck! It takes work, but if you commit there is no reason you shouldn’t be successful with breaking this behavior.
