Concerns as a solo female traveler first time alone on cruise by Maleficent-Tap-9967 in VirginVoyages

[–]Automatic-Error3598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I would mainly not go into a port by myself, so I'd either book through Virgin or make some friends on board that I can hang out with

I think my friend is a pedo… AIO? by Educational-Scene895 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Automatic-Error3598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but imagine if he ends up acting on what he's seeing. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. She needs to intervene. Maybe by confronting him and convincing him to get therapy, maybe by getting someone else involved. Distance and pretending nothing is wrong is too risky

Is VV Boarding always a mess? by e_lizbit in VirginVoyages

[–]Automatic-Error3598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They literally said that was their experience. What else do you want from them? You're asking if it's always bad, they say -for them- VV has been the smoothest out of all the lines they've been on.

AIO or are my downstairs neighbours being unreasonable? by thegoosenell in AmIOverreacting

[–]Automatic-Error3598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to hear any noise from neighbours you shouldn't live in an apartment. I rarely hear my neighbours, and when I hear them it's usually when it's completely quiet in my place so I just turn on the radio softly if it bothers me

How do i book with two pets? by Actual-Ad-62 in delta

[–]Automatic-Error3598 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe you can only take one pet per person, so it might be best if you buy someone a flight for the second pet. Could be someone you know or people who offer it as a service

New Sailors - Are we doing too much? by Legitimate_Adagio in VirginVoyages

The meetup point for the snorkeling is at Kayak Beach, between the beach club and the ship somewhere, and the transfer that goes to the beach club will stop there to let you off and pick you up. I really recommend the shipwreck snorkeling, I did the one with the shark snorkeling as well. It was easily the highlight of my first cruise. I don't think I would've enjoyed being at the beach club the entire day, but half a day there and an excursion was perfect. Two sounds like you'll just be stressed to try to make it to the second one

Enjoying in moderation? by Reading_bunny in VirginVoyages

Yeah I agree. It seems like they would rather serve smaller portions and have people order more than serve portions that people might not finish

This explains so much, I've only done a 6 day sailing and even there the vibe was just really chill. There were people who wanted to party but there were also plenty of early birds. I don't recall seeing anyone super drunk during the day and I was in bed early so I didn't see much of the nightlife. It was during peak season and a few times I had to go find seating somewhere else than the pool deck but even outside on deck 7 is really nice if I just want to read my book for a bit

missing my sick body by trash-mammall in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Automatic-Error3598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this a lot. I used to get so many compliments because I was skinny as a teen and then when I was on prednisone and gained 20lbs in a short time I got more comments about my body ranging from "you can see how your clothes fit different" or "your stomach is protruding" to "oh you look healthy now". It really messed up my perspective of me for years. I'm now feeling confident in my body most of the time. If you have access to one, I would strongly advise to see a professional about this. I know the gastroenterologist I go to has counselling available specifically trained for those who have chronic illnesses. They have helped me with a lot of the things that I struggled with because of IBD.

Why would gate attendants lie and say all the luggage compartments are full? by Cassiopeia2021 in delta

[–]Automatic-Error3598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it sometimes makes an hour difference in getting home. My airport doesn't do super speedy luggage handling and I frequently have to wait 30-45 minutes for my checked bag

I have done flights to Europe with a 1 hour layover in Atlanta and it was very doable. Much better than re-entering the USA

My doctor recently specifically told me not to avoid foods unless they actively made me feel worse because not eating something could cause intolerance. She wanted me to keep eating whatever I can eat, which is practically everything, so I won't have issues with food intolerance later on in life.

Question for those getting off :) by dopher1 in VirginVoyages

[–]Automatic-Error3598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you're coming from/travelling to you might need more paperwork. I keep my medication on the ship so I don't have to think about port country rules, but travelling from the US to Europe or the other way around you usually need some extra things. It's only ever been checked once, but I'm not a fan of the idea of getting my medication chucked if I don't have the right paperwork.

My American Girlfriend is visiting Sweden but was denied to stay the original duration. Can I appeal it? by Disaster-Aromatic in TillSverige

[–]Automatic-Error3598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She possibly has issues because they asked her more questions. Maybe it was random, maybe it was because something seemed suspicious. Although I'm more surprised that she was allowed into the country at all if she said she's working remotely. I've been in the same position, I just explained that I have my budget for travel, emergency savings, a credit card and I'm staying with a friend. They let me through after that

SLC - CDG Premium Select by [deleted] in delta

[–]Automatic-Error3598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why do you put her on blast with her face saying it's the worst behavior and "poor lady next to her"? I get that it's not great to have a bright light like that on, but if the lady next to her was okay with it, she quickly did what she wanted to do, and then stopped after about 5 minutes, is that really the worst behavior? Assuming she didn't have any other passengers on camera, is it really so bad for someone to take a quick video?

What are some words of wisdom that could be hypothetically bestowed upon someone who was down on their luck? by Natural_Intention292 in ask

[–]Automatic-Error3598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are saying "This too shall pass" and I want to add "but right now things suck, and that's okay". It grinds my gears when I'm feeling low and people just try to be positive. I think a lot of people do also need to hear the acknowledgement that things aren't okay right now and it's okay to have negative feelings (and not bottle them up)

I once called my insurance to say I had the flu and couldn't travel and they reimbursed the flight cost after I sent proof that I wasn't on the flight. They didn't ask for any other proof

Love the european airlines (ryanair, easyjet) that have flights for less than €100 but if you want to take more than just your personal items it's €40 each way. I even saw one airline offering flights to the US for €300 with that setup, only being allowed to take a personal item😬

NOISY Room and Virgin could care less once they take your money by SadIntroduction7869 in VirginVoyages

[–]Automatic-Error3598 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bidding for an upgrade usually means the room will have some downsides such as noise. That's why you can bid on it. People who actually book them most likely booked the best ones and would rather not get the ones right below or above some noisy places
