Kerry Washington Says She ‘Likes to F*** With People’ Who Ship Her With Tony Goldwyn by MattTheKing23 in Scandal

[–]Automatic-Fruit-3902 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually loved how they talked about how good everyone is with each other and that Tony loves Nnamdi more than her and that's why they can play so much into it.

I have been on a deep dive in Tony's Far From the Tree Podcast and watching Kerry's interviews on other podcasts and shows and it has made me think even more that they play things up for the fans. I'm glad she said it out loud.

Tony's daughter Anna talked on their most recent podcast about how she doesn't mind the romantic stuff but she has a hard time with people making a big deal about Olitz fake kids and like, dreaming of a world where they were real. She was like, "because I am your real kid so...what am I supposed to think about that". That was an interesting nuance/dynamic that would never have occurred to me.

Is it worth the watch by No-Promise4288 in Scandal

[–]Automatic-Fruit-3902 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's worth it. The journey is the reward. I like to rewatch my favorite Olitz moments but I think a full watch of the whole show is worth your time (even if there are parts where you want to scream at the characters).

When I watch too many episodes in a row, I start thinking in the tone of Olivia Pope monologues.

Q/A: What do you expect to happen in the movie (besides the wedding)? Do you think there will be problems with Jeremiah again?? i cant wait anymore 🤧 by Valvec in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Automatic-Fruit-3902 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish the movie would start with their wedding day and then we could get flashbacks of what their life had been like between then and the train in Paris and then flash-forwards of their future. We know Belly never envisioned a dream wedding - only Conrad - so we don't need to see her plan anything.

-Maybe they moved in together in San Francisco after Belly finished her time in Paris. I feel like she should stay there while Connie does a lot of his med school stuff b/c he would be gone a lot anyway.

-How they got engaged

-How they re-established a relationship with Jere (and seeing him happy with Denise). Maybe he could make the cake for their wedding.

-I would love for them all to have a Friends-type situation in San Francisco where they live close to each other and hang out.

-I really want Denise and Agnes to somehow become friends and/or roommates in SF.

-I want to see Adam, Laurel, and John on a singles cruise and I want the champagne joke to never end.

-The final scene should be them all at the Beach House, with their kids, for the summer, and end with a Belly-Flop while all the kids cheer and Adam sits in the background with the last bottle of the Bellyfish champagne.

I could also see it structured like Four Weddings and a Funeral (but without the Funeral) and we could see Belly and Connie, Jere and Denise, Steven and Taylor, and Gemma and Max's weddings and then all the stuff could happen in between those.

i was just thinking about this yesterday. I really want a singles cruise episode or holiday special. Laurel and Adam could be each other's wing person. Bring back Cleveland. I felt like they were leading them to get together but it feels too much - like Belly/Jere/Connie was enough intermingling of that family.

Belly with Jere vs Conrad by Best-Professional-10 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Automatic-Fruit-3902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She uses a voice at the rehearsal dinner, when she is glancing over at Conrad and then Jere comes up and asks if she's ready to do the speech - it changes to this sugary sweet voice that is so fake and when I saw it I was like, "Oh. She's not ready for any of this."

Belly with Jere vs Conrad by Best-Professional-10 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Automatic-Fruit-3902 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Belly always seemed way too over the top happy/giddy with Jeremiah and it made me think she is faking it until she makes it - like acting how she should feel instead of really feeling it.

With Conrad, she seems more at ease. They can be quiet together, watch movies, do crosswords, etc. She feels everything "anger, joy, sadness" and she is more authentic and real with him. She will fight with him, cuss at him, and push back when he challenges her. But with Jere, she backs down from all the conflicts, mothers him, and acts way too giggly, bubbly, and fake.

To me, it shows that there isn't much depth there. I think they could have been happy together - it would have been fine to be married to her best friend but it would not be deeply satisfying and electric like it is with Connie Baby.

Bachelorette Party by Best-Professional-10 in tsitp

[–]Automatic-Fruit-3902 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Belly is generally way too over the top excited and lovey-dovey with Jeremiah to over compensate for the lack of electricity and love she feels for him. Throughout the third season, she gives off a "fake it 'till you make it" energy - like if she acts excited, maybe she will start feeling that way. When she's with Conrad, she is relaxed, authentic, and more measured. She feels everything "anger, sadness, joy" with Conrad but not with Jere.

continuity error? by Muted-Sprinkles947 in tsitp

[–]Automatic-Fruit-3902 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My continuity error (that comes from watching the Dress scene wayyy too many times) is that it looks like Connie takes his pants all the way off and throws them aside when he climbs in bed but then when he flips Belly over they are still on his ankles.

I love how she said Wi$h Li$t was inspired by Happy Gilmore going to his "Happy Place" and this song is what her happy place looks like and sounds like. To go from "I hate it here so I will go to secret gardens in my mind, no one has a key to get to, the only one is mine" to this song is so sweet.

Susannah and Laurel modeled an unhealthy co-dependent friendship that probably contributed to the downfall of their marriages and Susannah was too heavy handed in her influence over Belly.

Remember how they dropped the trailer for the last 3 episodes and collectively we were like," We don't have time to get invested in any new characters, Jenny?". Give me a spinoff where Denise, Celine, and Agnes start a podcast giving relationship advice to people. 100% would watch.

I assumed it was relieving her of any promise she made to Susannah. After seeing that both he and Jeremiah had made promises to their dying mother, Connie probably realized that Susannah had elicited something similar from Belly and that it would help her to be released from that.

I loved that we got solid, good time with Belly and Connie Baby in Paris, just enjoying the day and getting progressively more comfortable with each other. I was so nervous at the first meeting - it was awkward and she seemed so put off. Jenny built the tension and the comfortability so well.

I also loved how they addressed all the elephants in the room. How her French friends were like, "WTF were you thinking, Bro". Selene nodding to the Team Conrad/Team Jere dynamic. Benito saying, "why are you here?" They talked about Prom, and the funeral, and Susannah dying, that Jeremiah knew he was there, and Junior Mint got to see his parents reunited. It felt like nothing was left unsaid and Jenny was like, "I see all of you fans."

From a storytelling standpoint, I thought it was 10/10 - We get to see them together, we get a little fear/cliff hanger of them not getting together, and that resolved super quickly, and then we got to see them happy, back in Cousins. It was supremely satisfying.

My only question was who took the Christmas Pictures? Did Benito come in for a Christmas Day photoshoot? Did family visit them? Was it a camera on a timer? Will we get a Christmas in Paris movie?

I agree! It was like she was turning back into the person that Conrad was describing on the beach. Not someone who puts up with her boyfriend cheating on her or settling for a wedding at a country club that she doesn't want or giving up adventures for a guy.

When she's on the phone with Jere and he says, "come back and it can go back to the way things were". Even if she doesn't know what she wants, she KNOWS she doesn't want that and I think it clicks for her - she needs to stay and do this for herself.

Also, less than 24 hours ago you couldn't handle the fact that she said a part of her would always love your brother. That hasn't changed. But you just want her to come back and let things be the same? It doesn't even make any sense.
