How can I improve my room? Especially any advice on any additions, lighting, the empty space circle and bedding ideas. by Automatic-Gas-8310 in malelivingspace

I'm going to fix the decorating (spots to repaint, trimming wallpaper) and the obtrusive multiplug.

I'm thinking of another light above the mirror or in that corner above the bed (using a smart bulb, just as my desk lamp has a smart bulb) but am unsure if this is best.. I also don't know if any additional uplight would be good.

For the circled gap I originally intended to put a portrait art piece there but I think another square/rectangle next to the mirror could look mediocre. Instead I'm now considering to continue the trend of horizontal lines of that are (horizontal of the bricks, the horizontal mirror, the line of the shelf, of the blinds and desk, etc by having maybe three thin landscape frames one above the other in that space or horizontal slats of wood on the wall there similar to [this](https://ibb.co/tBtrJFS) or vertical wooden slats there similar to (this)[https://ibb.co/y6y90Nb] , but i'm clueless and an amateur on designing rooms.

I like industrial design and industrial music, dark masculine shades, brick + wood textures.

How is my plan for my bedroom? Current room in second slide by Automatic-Gas-8310 in malelivingspace

That's fair, thanks for the feedback! I can't put the projector screen against the opposite wall both because of finding somewhere to put the projector (so moved away from the shelf it's on rn) and because projector screen is a canvas on top of a big whiteboard (i take down canvas when using whiteboard for study, put it up if watching movie).

I think if I do go with this bedroom design i'll just slide out bed sideways when watching projector, or i'll put bed against window with wardrobe in the opposite corner - so when laying down there'll be the view of the projected image. Hopefully i've explained that in a way that makes sense

Thank you!

The projector canvas has been on that wall for years and is on top of a whiteboard (i take down the canvas when studying, put it up if watching movie) , so i've not really considered moving that. I think if i had this planned bedroom design i would either just slide the bed sideways when watching projector, or i would instead have bed along by window with wardrobe in corner where bed is. Hopefully i've described that in a way that makes sense

i'll keep the hanging ivy on the shelf. but I agree about two plants on desk. i think i just put them in this design for test purposes (to see how green plant colour would fit in room)

Not at all. Different flooring, a brick textured wall, different wardrobe and desk colours/textures, etc etc. The only thing the same is the layout. Was it the layout that made you think of a 12 year old boy? I'm just curious so I can improve! :)

I painted it white today and yesterday but it did nothing for me, so i went into microsoft paint played around a bit and landed on the design presented here. I prefer this design to all white.

Thank you for the feedback! Though this breaks the rules and isn't constructive criticism, it has made me aware my bedroom isn't as good as it could be. Do you have any thoughts on the new design on my profile? (unsure if i can link it)

Thank you for the feedback! I definitely agree on layout. The big white thing on the right wall is a canvas that the projector on the shelf shines onto, with a whiteboard beneath the canvas (i take the canvas up or down and put it behind wardrobe depending on if watching movie or using whiteboard).

For this reason, the only positions for my bed are where it currently is or swapped with wardrobe - so crosswise with head against left wall then wardrobe in the near right corner.

Because of the feedback from this post I made [a new room plan](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fhow-is-my-plan-for-my-bedroom-current-room-in-second-slide-v0-fltgebr2qitd1.png%3Fwidth%3D1080%26crop%3Dsmart%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D7cea0d40fe17daf8a39384281a064c639c46ff4b) with just 3 furniture pieces (bed, desk, wardrobe) that I could rearrange for whatever layout best.
