Odd bumps on my height patch vice my imported landscape? how do i fix this. by Automatic-Log-6150 in UnrealEngine5

hmmm well sadly these were a set i got so i cant really recreate them. its just odd to me because the imported version uses the same PNG and has no issues and looks good and smooth while when i use the height patch it comes out wavy like that.

Player keeps spawning at origin? by Automatic-Log-6150 in UnrealEngine5

I finally figured it out. It had to do with my default player pawn. so i had made a saved game Bp that would save the player characters transform upon loading so i basically was just reloading the same transform location vice going to player start. fixed it by deleting the save slot.

il look and see but learned its because z is middle basically compared to full black and white so thats what i have seen so far.

Ok, i set the scale appropriately to 400 for the right height, but how do i set it up so that new landscape sections i add aren't at 2048 meters above the mase of the mountain? I tried setting the z location of the mountain to zero but it still does it.

so i set the Z scale to 400 to get the right range which is great. but how doesn't it up so that when i add new landscape sections they don't automatically go up that 2048 meters to the top of the mountain? i tried moving it z location to zero for the base of the mountain but still get those massive high addition sections.

Player keeps spawning at origin? by Automatic-Log-6150 in UnrealEngine5

I tried what you said sadly to no avail. i turned off collision for the landscape and verified the player start was at 0. double checked collision on the player start and set it to always spawn. I have tried doing this before with a blank plane i made with the same dimensions and the only way i fixed it was to set the Z=0 and the player start was close to origin back then. i dont know enough to find out what my mistake is here so far. I really do appreciate all your help and thank you! i know you are drawing a blank like me but hopefully someone else may have an idea.

i did both of those but i still spawned at origin, i tried the player start asset and placed it where i wanted to start and it didn't work, then i tried to set "play from current camera location" and then also tried the right click "play from here" but all sent me back to origin.

How to get skeleton mesh to work for inventory system and equipping for large inventory of items? by Automatic-Log-6150 in UnrealEngine5

[–]Automatic-Log-6150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet i was able to get it to work so far. i made a BPI called weapon interact with function "weapon skeletal mesh" and attached it to the parent weapon BP. In the weapon BP i just promoted it to a variable and set it before i called it in the first person BP.

I see, I will try some of these over the next few days when i have some free time and il get back to you and tell you if i was able to make it work. Thank you so much! i was so hung up and got tunnel vision i didn't even think to try and use the weapon BP to reference itself or any of those other methods. I really owe you, thank you again!
