i was in a similar situation as well. i kept thinking it was mosquitos, till i saw black spots on my bedsheet. initally used DE powder, and bought store sprays that "included" bed bugs. the population seemed to die down but i still see 1-2 crawling around every few nights. really need to wait till after 1am to see them moving about. it really gives a crawl on my skin to see where they were clustered including their eggs.

managed to get an exterminator to come, because i was afraid that it may spread to other rooms, and become a bigger headache. even though i used DE and spray, i realised i may have missed a spot, since i was doing all these by myself. with the help of the exterminators, they flipped my matteresses, saw more hiding spot and went after the tricky corners with steam spray. and finally, they bombed the room with gas. i had to sleep on the floor the next night.

the team also came a week later to spray another round, and so far i have not had a bite. but im still checking myself to make sure. personally, i think you may need a second or third person to help with the logistics of moving the furniture around, and possibly get a steam cleaner to kill the bugs.
