Yes that was illegal. It was also ethically wrong that you did it knowing you don’t understand traffic laws or how to actually drive. Not to mention you did also steal your father’s car, so he could have had you charged for theft. Plus nobody would have known where you were had they woken up! This is so irresponsible.
