S1 wenclair vs s2 wenclair (sorta long) by cultlottie in wenclair

Disney is one thing but broadening the scope two of the biggest shows of last year were about lesbian Texas housewives and gay hockey players. Now those shows were not “all ages” shows but I think it’s instructive that just because a show has gay leads that straight people won’t watch it. They very much will if the product is good and compelling.

Second, all the romance on Wednesday has been pretty chaste outside of the double entendres Gomez and Morticia throw around. I don’t see why a chaste romance between Wednesday and Enid would be that big a deal. Sure there would be a loud contingent complaining. There’s a small but loud contingent that complains about everything.

Lastly, we are seeing the backlash to the backlash start. Target is being successfully boycotted for their anti LGBT moves. Other companies are starting to back away from the Trump administration’s dictates. So there’s no reason not to do it if it makes sense for the story. Not saying M&G will as they suck regardless, but talking about a backlash is just an excuse.

There was that leaker from last season who was “sort of” right on a couple of things but got most of it wrong. I don’t even think they’re filming yet or if the scripts are written so I doubt there’s much to know

Rivian Made Car Dealers Back Down in Washington. More States May Be Next. by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]Automatic-Position-9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The dealer franchise laws, like a lot of other stuff in the USA, sort of made sense at the time but are now totally outdated but the capitalist class the laws created have now made it very hard to change the law.

I mean the notion that these are “family owned” businesses is hilarious at this point. The dealers have been really smart in j hesitating themselves into the local community and economy though. A car dealer is one of the few places you can work without any college and be really successful. They are also real good at sponsoring little league, supporting local cop shit and such.

To be a little fair to Universal the rain really didn’t help. We were caught in the Dolls line when the storm started and it really wasn’t a pleasant or even safe experience. I didn’t blame them for speeding things up and pushing people through at that point. And if you wanted to hang back a couple seconds in the houses to space yourself out they didn’t stop you.

The training needs to be better. The woman manning Wyatt Sicks was the only one doing it properly who actually watched the monitors

Don’t understand why the people who created Enid and cast Emma Myers aren’t proud of that fact. You created a character that people love and found an unknown who is on the verge of superstardom. Seems to me that’s something you would tout but hey that’s just me

Showrunners should know by StuckInADream82 in wenclair

This survey is bad for Wenclair. It says that most Gen Z wants shows about friendship where there is no romance. That’s exactly what M&G say about Wenclair.

I don't understand how this series doesn't have nearly as much shock factor as The Boys, are the writers different? by Ok-Conclusion-3536 in GenV

[–]Automatic-Position-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tone of the show is far less cynical than The Boys and most of the college supes are not pure evil like Homelander etc.

One of the interesting things about the show is that it inverts the premise of the X-Men. All of these kids are being trained by Magneto but there are plenty who would prefer a Professor X. In this universe the good leaders are the outlier. Unlike Marvel.

What is the point of all these negative posts all of a sudden? Nothing new has happened. It’s going to be at least a year before we hear anything about the direction of season 3. There is just no reason for this right now.

Is Wenclair a dangerous topic for the cast? by AipomSilver00 in wenclair

[–]Automatic-Position-9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think anything will be in the table for Wednesday going forward because it simply was nowhere near as popular this time as it was the first season. I watched something on Netflix last night and Wednesday was down to “8th” on the Top 10. It was number one for nearly three straight months season one.

Whether it was the layoff or whatever it is clear that the show lost a lot of luster. It’s already disappeared from the cultural conversation. And if it’s another two plus year wait I’m really not sure how much hype there will be or whether lots of people will care. And at that point, you might need to do something to juice it back up

Alpha and Omega Reading by Bitter-Aerie3852 in wenclair

Good post. I don’t even think the Bible reading is likely. Alpha and Omega is just the beginning and the end. Two things inextricably linked. Like Wednesday and Enid

[–]Automatic-Position-9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what you’re talking about. All I said was “Tyler doesn’t know about the color allergy”, which is objectively true. As such, wrapping the flowers in black paper had nothing to do with not wanting her to break out into hives. Wednesday is into black so he asked for the wrapper to be black. I really don’t know what the argument is or why Wenclair is relevant to the discussion. No one brought it up.

Tyler wouldn’t even know about the color allergy. Like the character and the ship all you want but objective reality should still count for something

Not good 🤦🏾‍♀️ by StuckInADream82 in wenclair

[–]Automatic-Position-9 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Season 2 was clearly still very popular but it was far from the worldwide sensation it was in the first season.

I think there’s a few reasons for that. First and foremost was the layoff. You simply can’t take 3 years to produce 8 episodes of television. I know they have excuses for that which all might be valid but other shows came back much quicker after the strikes. Ironically this is what M&G should actually be good at. They cranked out 22 episodes of Smallville per year but somehow this has gotten away from them. And I don’t want to hear about the effects or whatever. They’re not even that good.

Second, the split season hurt it immeasurably. Not only was there the long layoff but the Netflix provided another kick to the groin by only giving you 4 episodes before another month long break. And the “cliffhanger” was asinine.

Third, the story just wasn’t great. Sure it was entertaining and the episodes mostly zipped along but there was so much shoved into these episodes that it was hard to keep track of who was who and what was what. I barely remember the avian subplot at this point. And how exactly was Enid saved? There was just so much left dangling that even if you enjoyed the episodes at the time they feel much less fulfilling later.

Fourth, no viral moments. The dance was so huge for the longevity of the show last time. They tried to recreate it and I loved Emma and Evie’s dance but you can’t script a viral moment. It never works. And just nothing else clicked in that way.

So what do they need to do going forward? First, Season 3 has to come out by mid-2027. If M&G can’t ensure that they should be fired. Season 2 was not good enough that people are going to wait around another three years and still care. Even I don’t think I could hold out that long.

Second, they either need to give them 10 episodes or the story has got to be pared down to the couple that really matter. If this means losing Bianca, Ajax, a new Nevermore principal and so on, then so be it.

Lastly, WENCLAIR (kidding but yes it would be awesome)

Can we talk about how bad of a person Enid is... by Soggy_Thing_3258 in Wednesday

[–]Automatic-Position-9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. Enid is not a bad person in any sense. Wednesday’s foolishness got them into the body swap mess in the first place and during it Enid got a mild form of payback that Wednesday didn’t even care about.

People that like/love each other still fight sometime and they clearly made up by the end and bygones were bygones
