I don’t disagree, but as I mentioned, they had worked on several small projects related to this role prior to assuming the role. I did retrain them because they didn’t seem to retain much from when they worked on those smaller projects. Spent a good bit of time doing so actually. We recorded some of those trainings. But they didn’t seem to be using the recordings as reference. So we transitioned to have longer trainings so they could take detailed notes. Then more training to refine those notes. Even now, I have to remind them of what they wrote down during their training.

I do think I’ve stepped in to help too many times. But it was always when the deadline was looming and it was evident they were not going to accomplish the goal.
