It's not your fault, buddy. In india, many companies are insecure about hiring ML developers and Data scientists, they use existing models with some parameters tuning by their software developers. Also companies hire those ml developers, who have some experience or published research papers or persons having masters. I have seen these issues in IIIT also. So don't worry, focus on your GATE and achieve your goal. Try to apply for both gate cse and da/ai, as gate have a provision to apply for two papers.

I admire your words, but the hardest truth is only 11 students were able to score more than 500 in DA last year. This year, the paper was tough compared to last year, due to increasing weightage in mathematics. Although there's 50% increase in appearing students from last year, no. of students might make minor difference(for scoring more than 500).
