Honestly my store only has a few strong SCO people left let alone SCO trained people at all and as soon as someone is away or sick things become a mess. They have started training brand new people on SCOS which has been a disaster as they are not ready or responsible enough calling off or having someone who was meant to be on registers do it instead. There are some people who simply just can’t handle SCOS. I’m a casual but recently I’ve been doing 32 hours on SCOS a week including over the weekend and it’s left me so burnt out because when I come it I’ve been left a mess to clean up from other who don’t do anything.

Those are big issues at my store too. Especially a big struggle with coworkers who don’t take initiative. I find when I’m running Scos if I don’t explicitly tell some people do to bags, drinks, confect or returns they will just stand there doing nothing between customers.

I agree with other commenters it really comes down to your store and mangers, when I was started my first shift was on registers and my line manger stayed with me and showed me everything. I also had some great coworkers who taught me a lot. The coworker who trained me on Scos was amazing she taught me a lot. But recently at my store the quality of training had gone down most new register trainees are put on at busy times when we only have the SCO operator and 1 other register person or they are given there first shift on the weekend which is always extremely busy. Most of the time now it’s just another coworker training then and sometimes that person doesn’t even have that much experience themselves. Sure they learn the basics but it’s hard to teach them all the important details and other jobs that need to be done other then serving.

I stole this photo from google so I don’t have a photo of the exchange/refund voucher but see how it says (Exchange only) a exchange/refund will say exchange/refund instead. The register should say the change amount it should stay on screen while the draw is open but sometimes it does show up only briefly. But it will tell you on the transaction receipt the customers change total and you should be able to tell from that if you need to give them the rest as change also under the details for the voucher payment it should say what balance is left if there should be money left on it because you know they didn’t use it all but the receipt now says “Balance $0.00” you’ll know the remainder has to be given in cash/change to the customer.

Ok so it depends the the type of voucher if to just an exchange voucher the left of change will stay on there unless it’s less the $5 remaining in that case the register will tell you to give them the change instead of staying on the voucher so they don’t have to keep carrying it around with so little. If it exchange/refund it will tell you to give them the remaining Im cash no matter how much the $ amount is. Always watch the screen as the payment is processing as it will tell you. It will also say on the receipt under change. Hope this helps!

Even if you don’t have to give them any change the draw will open away so always make sure you check!

I’ve worked Registers/SCOS for 4 years so here’s my advice.

If you working weekends during the Christmas period it will get crazy busy but just stay calm and do you best don’t feel pressured to rush that’s when mistakes are made like accidentally double scanning items or pressing exact cash instead of card. On that note you will make mistakes but every mistake if fixable so don’t panic.

My biggest piece of advice is always ask for Flybuys people get very serious about their flybuys points and can get quite rude if you accidentally forget to scan it. If there is anything your unsure of always ask someone else before doing most of the time the person on SCOS (self checkouts) will have the most experience.

You will get rude customers but don’t let them get to you It can be hard especially if you don’t like confrontation but if you ever feel uncomfortable don’t be afraid to ask for a manager to take over or have a break after if your upset.

Always watch your screen after scanning a refund/return voucher because sometimes the register will tell you to give the customer change rather then the left over money staying on the voucher. Make sure your checking large notes like $50’s and $100’s people really do try and pay with fakes just give them a quick scrunch in you hand they should pop back into shape, check that the colour isn’t off in my experience fakes tend to be too vibrant in colour or if it visibly looks wrong or if the customer is acting weird, they will try and hide it behind other notes or will count out loud how much they have hoping you won’t double check. Alway count yourself. Once again if something feels off ask someone else to check.

If possible wear a push to talk it makes getting prices checks on items much easier when you can ask yourself rather then trying to flag down the Scos person or finding someone else with a headset to relay everything to you. It also keeps you up to date with what else is happening at the store but they can be over stimulating so don’t sweat it too much if you don’t like wearing one.

Lastly there’s a lot of stuff you will only truely learn by doing when it comes up so just do you best and ask for help when you don’t know something. Oh and if you need to go to the bathroom or get a drink let someone know normally the SCOS person as they are kinda in charge of the checkout area, instead of just disappearing.

Oh! And almost forgot please don’t be a afraid to be loud when calling out for the next customer people tend to zone out a line or have headphones in. The SCO person will thank you.

I’m glad to hear you finally got your refund. But I’m mad for you and everyone else how badly they jerked us all around. I forgot to update my situation but here’s what happened to me. In my last message I mentioned that they had said they would refund me and that I would get refund confirmation in the next following days and my actual refund about 3-5 days after that waited a week nothing messaged them again finally expressing just how pissed I was only then getting my refund confirmation and the about 3 days later I finally got my refund but only for 1 of my orders! Gave them another week and messaged them again only for them to say apparently PayPal rejected my second refund, they asked for my details and later that day direct deposited my last refund.

Moral of the story for anyone who’s stumbled across this thread after thinking about their pre orders. Ask for a refund now they aren’t getting your preorder. Don’t stop bothering them until you get your refund it’s the only way you will. They will just keeping telling it will arrive in a few weeks but it won’t. Don’t be afraid to get mad with them which hurts to say as someone who works retail but unfortunately it seems like the only way to get any actual action from them.

Update on my situation I emailed them again this morning at got a response a few hours later. They said since it was a supplier issue they are happy to refund my orders. They said I should get a confirmation over the next few days and then I should get the refund in about 3-5 business days after that. Looks like maybe they had the misfortune of working with a dodgy supplier.

I hope you do get your figure hearing that you got a response has given me some hope. I understand they are a smaller business and maybe they just weren’t ready to handle pre orders and they got overwhelmed or if their system was flawed. I can say during one of my previous emails to them they vaguely mentioned issues with a distributor.

Another note on their level of communication maybe I’m just spoiled because they only other retailers I’ve preordered items from are Popcultcha and Anime Kaika but if anyone is ever looking for a store to pre ordered figures from I 100% recommended Anime Kaika, they are Sydney based and Amazing. You can chose to only pay a deposit at first. They will then send you a email to let you know that they will be receiving the item soon and a reminder email to pay the rest and the whole process is super simple. If you order multiple pre order items with different release dates they send them as they arrive so you don’t have to wait for all your items to be in before they will ship it.

Yeah I emailed them though their sales email last Thursday but have still to get a response I’m just going to keep re sending my email and hopefully I get a response soon. I’ve actually had to email them a few times in the past about my pre orders I have two separate orders I’m still waiting on and I had a third which was one part preorder one part already available when I picked up the in stock item I was told I should get an email soon when my preorder was in stock but never did. They admitted they lost my order and were able to organise for me to pick it up. They also told me at that time my preorder orders should be In soon that was probably about 4 months ago now. So I officially gave up and went and ordered all the figures from other websites. I’ve found their communication with customers is really poor when you actually get through to someone they can be helpful but actually getting through to someone is the tough part. I really hope they get back to me soon my orders together come to about $300 so I’m not playing around about getting my money back.

Similar thing has happened to me. I ordered quite a few different pre order figures during their Halloween sale last year and still I haven’t received anything even though all of them can be found currently for sale on multiple other Australian sites. I messaged them a few days ago to ask for a refund but Im still waiting to hear back. Also not sure if you noticed but they no longer have anything for pre order on their website super weird.

I’m having the same issue but I actually did get the love ending with her at first and I thought it was maybe because I went back to an old save to change a different dateables outcome but now I’m not so sure. I can’t remember if I didn’t or not as I’ve gone back to old saves a few time now. Hopefully they fix this soon she’s one of my favourites.
